Forget gigbit interent ... where's our personal jetpacks,
hover-skateboards, flying cars, full-meal-pills, ...??   ;-)

For some people it's a matter of cost. Personally I still pay NZ$20 a
month for a dial-up connection, whereas even the cheapest broadband
connection is around NZ$70 per month.

For other people it can be a matter of location. Many places still
can't get broadband - people living on farms for example.

For most city people, the speed is often dependant on the distance from
the exchange and the number of other people using the same physical
connection.

The Government here in New Zealand is paying to have fibre-optic
cabling installed in the cities and broadband copper wiring to farms.
But these fibre connections are artificially slowed down to low speeds,
partly depending on what you're willing to pay (higher speeds cost
more) and partly with an increase in speed planned for the future.

Apple *needs* to release OS X on DVD or USB drives. This every-growing
reliance on internet everything is a pain in the backside.
