The trailing dot also conflicts with floating point syntax, both the
FP input syntax of other programming languages, and the output syntax
of "F.":
SwiftForth:
12345678e f. \ outputs 12345678.
VFX:
1e f. 1.
Gforth:
1e f. 1.
Interestingly, there is no word for outputting a double in a way that
will be rcognized as double on input. For FP we at least have "FS.".

I think that's a little extreme. My solution is to remove the
prefixless double syntax, but leave the syntax with a prefix in, e.g.
#100000000.

That would mean that we cannot have portable code with double literals
beyond the range of what fits in single cells. We may not need that
often, but we should not rule it out.
