Es ist aber zu beachten, dass es sich bei „positiv“ und „negativ“ nur um
zwei unterschiedliche Bezeichnungen handelt; nur um eine Konvention, die
sich als nützlich erwiesen hat, elektrische Ladungen voneinander zu
unterscheiden. Wobei gleichnamige Ladungen sich abstossen, ungleichnamige

Ja, schon eher. Wobei sie nur im Fall des Wasserstoffs ¹H lediglich ein
Proton "umwolken": Bei anderen Wasserstoff-Isotopen befindet sich im
Atomkern zusätzlich ein Neutron (Deuterium: D oder ²H) oder zwei Neutronen
(Tritium: T oder ³H), und bei anderen chemischen Elementen ausserdem mehr
als ein Proton (z.B. ⁴₂He; es ist die Zahl der Protonen im Atomkern, die
bestimmt, um welches chemische Element es sich handelt).

Gewissermassen, ja. Der Abstand eines Elektrons bzw. des Bereichs seiner
höchsten Aufenthaltswahrscheinlichkeiten (sein Orbital) ist von seinem
Energiezustand abhängig; das heisst auch: je höher die Energie eines
Elektrons ist, desto weiter weg vom Atomkern wird es zu finden sein. Die
Elektronen mit den höchsten Energien (Valenzelektronen) befinden sich am
äussersten Rand der Atomhülle bzw. de facto ausserhalb des Atoms (siehe
„Valenzband“); was elektrischen Strom ermöglicht, wenn „überflüssige“
Elektronen (siehe unten) als freie Ladungsträger zur Verfügung stehen, und
chemische Reaktionen, wenn zum Beispiel ein Elektron eines Atoms eine
„energetische Lücke“ im Orbital eines anderen Atoms füllt.
Daher sollte es uns nicht wundern, dass unter Normbedingungen Wasserstoff
molekular ist, denn H··H ist eine stabilere Konfiguration als H·: die beiden
Wasserstoff-Atome teilen sich ihre Elektronen, so dass jedes für sich einen
energetisch günstigeren Zustand (Edelgaskonfiguration) erreicht. (Der Name
deutet es an: das ist der Grund, weshalb Edelgase „Edelgase“ sind, d.h.
nicht chemisch reagieren. Ihre Atome haben schon den optimalen Zustand und
brauchen daher weder Elektronen abgeben noch aufnehmen, um einen solchen zu
erreichen.)
