there were numerous cases where an intel mac could do things powerpc
macs could not.

almost immediately, there were intel-only apps, mainly from developers
who were new to the platform and never had a powerpc mac.

writing ios apps required an intel mac, as did natively running windows.

for apple silicon, ios apps will run natively, which will never be
possible on intel, and expect to see many of them ported to have a
somewhat normal mac ui.

also expect a variety of hardware features that were not previously
possible with intel.

keep in mind that the first intel mac was the imac.

imac is the most popular desktop mac, and it had only a minimal update
this past week. the imac pro was not updated at all.

the imac is a strong contender for being among the first.
