You are connecting the camera to your computer via a USB cable. Here's the right way to upload photos to your computer. 1. Own more than one camera storage card. Three or four ought to be sufficient if you are an amateur photographer. 2. When you're ready to transfer photos remove the card from your camera and replace it with a fresh card. If the fresh card has photos on it, format it. The place to back-up your photos is your two or more back-up drives, not your memory card. 3. Insert the memory card that you want to read into your computer or into an external card reader. The Sony MRW-EA7 external reader is excellent. 4. If you're in a hurry because you're doing sports or a wedding, and you don't have an assistant to do this for you, use Photo Mechanic <http://www.camerabits.com/products/> for its transfer speed, then have the photos automatically transfer to Lightroom 5 (having dumped iPhoto) via a Lightroom "watched folder." 5. Remove the card from the computer or card reader. Be sure to reformat it when you next insert it into your camera.
