I've been doing that very thing for my elderly widowed friend who is now
approaching her 'end of life' situation. I find it quite appalling that
there is so little help available.

Where else, apart from this tiny, weeny, part of the Internet, are you
trying to get your important message across?

Dear Tim

My post was about the factual status of EtreCheck’s licensing, not about
anyone’s personal life.

ChatGPT’s claim that it was “open source” was worth checking, and I
provided a link so people could verify it for themselves.

If you don’t value that kind of fact-checking, that’s your choice — but
some of us do, and I have confidence in ChatGPT’s ability to assist in it.

Personal insults and attempts to shut down discussion don’t change the
facts.

Hello again, John

I noticed that you had made yet another revision to your software, so I
decided to 'give it a whirl' so to speak!

I'm not sure what you have done, but I've now got LOTS of red showing
AND a new word too - "Killed"

I've attached the scan result just for your general interest.

I'm now going to restart my machine in 'safe' mode and then back to
normal again - to see if the red ink is removed!

Why do think you have the right to harass these people so?

Hi Tim,

I’m not going to engage with personal remarks — they don’t help answer
the original point.

This thread was about a very specific, factual matter:

EtreCheck is not open source today.

The only public code is an old fork from when it was open source.

That code does not prove what the current closed-source version does.

If there’s reliable, independent verification of the current product’s
behaviour, I’d welcome seeing it. That’s the only way cautious Mac users
can make an informed decision.

If you have information on that, I’m listening.

David B.

*Still no evidence, Tim — just noise*!

I guess you are still pissed-off with fact that I was 100% right - you
could *NOT* repair a water pump for the narrowboat!

Says the person who is convinced that EtreCheck is "malware" WITH ZERO
EVIDENCE. All we have is lots of noise from you.

My irony detection meter just went off the scale.

*NOBODY* questioned the use of EtreCheck back in 2016!

https://eclecticlight.co/2016/05/24/definitely-not-the-cat-the-sporadic-freezes-continue/

I was fascinated by the tool when first I used it in 2014.

Howard Oakley has never, as far as I'm aware, investigated the EtreCheck
software itself - or its Developer. Do YOU know different?

Where are you going to stop, given there can never be a satisfactory
conclusion to this crusade?

Will you simply move onto another random Dev / Co and start harassing them?

I'm beginning to believe in your cancer giving god and that he is having
a right laugh at your expense by putting you on this utterly pointless
crusade. Wind up the freak and watch him go, well, till he is bound by a
cease and desist order or imprisoned or more.

Oh how he and we are laughing right in your face.

Get help. you are SICK.

No. There has never been a "*random* Dev / Co" - this was a specific
target because he lied.

You do, here, all the time and have been pulled up by many here over it,
many times.

And that really shows just how sick (in the head) you really are.

Not so. At least you once *CLAIMED* that you had cancer - a cancer that
kills.

So? Maybe - since he is a Mac software developer - he does not see a need to
"investigate" (AKA stalk/harrass/libel/slander) the software or the author.

Give me evidence re the existence of your god. You can't because it's

God made a covenant with David, promising that his kingdom would last
forever. And yet after the reign of David’s son Solomon, the kingdom was
divided, and within a few hundred years both the northern kingdom and
the southern kingdom were destroyed (2 Kings 17 and 25).

For those living in the generations of captivity that followed, God’s
promise to David must have seemed like a fairy tale. Their experience
held no evidence of any great Israelite kingdom or king on the rise.
Psalm 89, written during this time, begins with God’s faithfulness but
ends with the people’s troubles: “Lord, where is your steadfast love of
old, which by your faithfulness you swore to David? Remember, O Lord,
how your servants are mocked, and how I bear in my heart the insults of
all the many nations” (Psalm 89:49-50). Speaking into that context of
distress and hopelessness, the prophets reminded the people, Wait a
minute! Though it doesn’t look like God’s promise is still in effect,
you can be sure it is, because of His covenant love. There’s more to
come. They spoke of the future:

For to us a child is born,

 to us a son is given;

and the government shall be upon his shoulder,

and his name shall be called

Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,

 Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Of the increase of his government and of peace

 there will be no end,

on the throne of David and over his kingdom,

to establish it and to uphold it

with justice and with righteousness

from this time forth and forevermore.

The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this. (Isaiah 9:6-7)

There was still, said the prophets, another place, another name, another
rest, another kingdom, and another throne to come. The failures of God’s
people did not mean that God had forgotten His promise. It would all be
fulfilled in Jesus.

History repeats itself. Whether because of disease, persecution,
politics or grief, we will at times find ourselves in that place of
confusion that Psalm 89 gives voice to. In such a time (which is really
any time before Jesus returns), we need prophetic voices to remind us of
God’s covenant faithfulness—that our Lord reigns on His throne both now
and forever. So today, take heart. Your failures do not mean that God
has forgotten His promise. There is more to come.

Thank you for confirming that you did, indeed, *FAIL* to repair a
narrowboat water pump!

I did tell you that it wasn't worth the effort to try! ;-)

And that ladies and gentlemen is how this sick fuck can twist things to
suit his own narrative.

Someone states they 'reply personally to all support questions', the
likes of this Brooks creep thinks that then means him so he pays for the
software to only get a refund from the dev rather than the dev having to
deal with the known creep!>
> I did tell you that it wasn't worth the effort to try! ;-)
And how does that make you right?

It was VERY easy to repair, it just wasn't worth the risk on financial
and access / inconvenience grounds, IN THIS CASE, something you had no
way to evaluate.

Had it been my boat / pump I would likely had repaired it because repair
it was easy and about 1/3rd of the cost of a new pump.

What YOU tried to tell us is that you didn't need an accumulator and you
were wrong, well, unless we wanted to work at whatever low standard your
abilities mean you get used to and I hate to think how low they must be.

Cheers, T i m
