They know 'science guys' want to make money...

How they go about doing it is what the WSJ is about.


It doesn't matter if you sell diapers, cocaine or life on mars...it's the business the wsj is in.


In other words, any industry that takes in a billion dollars, WSJ wants to know about.


If you're ripping off Medicare and making a billion dollars...wsj wants the story.


If you say there is life on mars and you take a billion dollars...and there isn't life on mars, it's a medicare ripoff.


It dosen't matter if you're honest or a crook, if you're making money with it...wsj want to know how you're doing it.

With interest rates so low, corporations can borrow money practically free and have been using it to buy back their own stock!  This keeps driving stock prices up!  So being in the stock market is a good place to be right now.  You can't get any interest on your money in the bank anyway.

Property(housing) Land best Here in Fullerton in one big block 323 living units are going up fast.Cheap construction.Its a must as Mexican families are flooding in.Chances are each unite will stuff in 5 families That is a given,for its going on all over. My friend Janet said she thinks real estate is the best place to put money.  She should know.  She owns a lot of apartment houses.  Even some in Las Vegas.  I asked why she hasn't branched into casinos, but she gave no answer.  She doesn't gamble.  Apparanly, every place she put her money was a sure thing.

The *only* proper term is “_far_ side of the Moon” as the far side is not 
always dark (in shadow).  In particular, there is “noon” on the far side 
whenever there is new moon for the observer.

It depends.  On the far side there is also a greater risk for meteoroid 
impacts destroying such equipment.

Would radio noise really be absent?  Consider the Deep Space Network already 
established.

“The Moon's surface contains helium-3 at concentrations on the order of 10 
ppb [parts per billion]” (Wikipedia [1]).  That is, in 10 kg of lunar 
regolith there are 100 ng (nanograms) of helium-3.

How much lunar regolith does one have to mine before it becomes worthwhile 
to be mined for fusion power?

The Mars mission is not misplaced and futile.  Like the Moon landing, it is
going to spur innovation in various fields; in fact, it does that already as 
we observe the ISS being the testbed of it.  Just think of the scope of that 
project, and the organizational, technical, and scientific knowledge that 
have to be gained, and skills that have to be attained, in order to 
accomplish it.

for humans, yes - it is misplaced and futile.

radiation will kill them in short order, they will go blind first, and 
be dead with in 3 or 4 years, unless they live underground for 98% of

for 4 years ?  Dont mind subsisting on peanut oil for years ? (UA's

the major problem is washing clothes, to recover the water used, and 
seperate out "dirt" and how to get the "dirt" the surface. NASA has no 
solution, they send up clean clothes to ISS with every support trip.

Historically and originally, the "far" side was called the
"dark" side because of its completely unknown aspect.
The term "dark" referred only to ignorance and lack of
knowledge and *never* connoted a shadowy condition from

Ever hear of the "Dark Ages?"  The medieval period was
not dark because the sun had vanished, but only because

To travel to Mars, nothing new would have to be attained.  Current
knowledge and technology would just have to refined and reapplied, and
that is a straightforward, if expensive, matter.

Regarding the ISS, that project is as useless and misguided as
any trip to Mars.

Any Mars venture would be much better implemented with advanced robotic
vehicles. An actual manned mission is pure folly.
