Nope, you can shield radiation.

The reason to use robots is they are much cheaper to send somewhere, can
continue to operate far longer and can do anything a human could do
including hit a golf ball for a photo op.
 
Apollo's purpose was primarily political to show the world the might
of the US. All of the actual science done by the Apollo landings could
today be done in a few robotic missions at a fraction of the (adjusted)
cost.
