If only you knew what you are talking about.  The papers you cite speak of 
“proton-proton cross section” and “p+p reactions”.  The ‘nym-shifting troll 
asked about the “cross-section of a [single] proton”.  Granted, that is a 
stupid question, but it does not mean that your answer has to be equally 
stupid.
