So that means that there is no inertial frame exists on earth’s surface....right? That means that SR is not valid on earth.....right?

No what that says is Special Relativity is inadequate
for this problem. You need to consider General Relativity.

This might be similar to the difference between inoragnic
chemistry and organic chemistry. Many key principles are
the same, but the one does not invalidate the other.

SR applies to inertial frames. Every point on earth’s surface is in a rotating motion and thus not an inertial frame. That means that SR is not a valid theory on earth.

In physics, 'inertial frames' have an operational definition.
There are frames on earth that satisfy its definition, hence there are inertial frames on earth.

Wrong Seto, as always. In a laboratory environment (a few meters) gravitation
is not relevant...

Learn something to begin with!!

Of course, YOU DON'T know what we are talking about.

Even at the Large Hadron Collider (with a circumference of 26.7 kilometres)
GR effects are not relevant.

Learn something to begin with!!!

You said that a satellite is not in an inertial frame so I said that the earth’s surface if in a rotating motion.....so that means that no location on earth surface is inertial so that means that SR is not valid on earth’s surface.

Technically true, but one must consider whether or not the deviation from
inertial is significant. IOW, one must use one's BRAIN.

Why don't you. Technically brains are chemical, which automatically leads
to believing is just a chemical molecular organic reaction. Very funny
indeed. You thought it was something else.

In a laboratory environment, a few meters gravitational different IS relevant
IF you are comparing test results for clocks that are a few meters apart
in altitude. The high clock ticks faster.

That is correct, but you have to consider the numbers. Clearly the effect on a
GPS satellite clock (on the order of microseconds, or 10^-6) are much much
larger order of magnitude than the effect of rising the clocks by 1 foot!!!
(which is on the order of 10^-16)

You make no sense, Paparios. Gravitational time dilation relates to altitude.
So, naturally, the higher you are, the faster time will pass for you and the
faster your clocks will tick.

If you want to MEASURE time dilation in a lab, you cannot have a great
difference in altitudes. The NIST and other experiments were performed
to see how SMALL the difference in altitudes can be and still have time
dilation measurable by atomic clocks.

People are inventing new atomic clocks all the time to be able to measure
Gravitational time dilation for smaller and smaller altitude differences.

And what have that anything to do with the real values of the gravitational
effects?

The Italian experiment provided gravitational results which are on the order of 10^-16 seconds in a time window of 100,000 seconds.

The GPS clocks experiences gravitational time dilation of 38x10^-6 seconds per
sidereal day. This result is around 10^10 times larger than the Italian result.

So from a practical point of view, the Italian result is negligible with respect
to the GPS result, meaning that the GPS result has to be considered in the design
of the GPS system.

Or numerically, if you have a result which is 0,0000380000000005 seconds, that
result can be approximated to 0,000038 seconds, without any real difference.

A lie, as expected from a fanatic moron.
GPS clocks indicate t'=t with the precision
of an acceptable error.

From your point of view it may be "negligible," but the point of the experiment
was to see if altitude could be determined by differences between clock tick
rates. And the experiment was successful. You can measure the height of a
mountain by determining the difference in clock tick rates for an atomic clock
at the top of the mountain and another atomic clock at the bottom of the
mountain.

And anyone who believes that clocks tick at the same rate at all altitudes
(like Tom Roberts) is shown to be wrong by experiment.

They may not be "inertial" according to your definition, but they are still
affected by Time Dilation.

"Special Relativity predicts that the on-board atomic clocks on the satellites
should fall behind clocks on the ground by about 7 microseconds per day because
of the slower ticking rate due to the time dilation effect of their relative
motion. Source: http://www.astronomy.ohio-state.edu/~pogge/Ast162/Unit5/gps.html

Clocks on earth are moving at 1000 mph. Clocks on the satellites are moving at
14,000 mph. That is why the clocks on the satellite would "fall behind" if
they weren't BUILT to compensate for that difference.

Which is the *correct* definition.

Which is actually NOT written with capital letters.

I wonder from where you get your figures and ideas.

[All of the following figures are specified in an Earth-Central Inertial
(ECI) frame in which Earth is rotating.]

Earth is rotating around its axis approximately in ∆T_E = 1 d = 24 h.
1 h = 3600 s. The mean equatorial radius of Earth is r_E ≈ 6378.1 km.
So the rotation speed of Earth is

  v_rot ≈ 2π r_E∕∆T_E
        = 2π × 6378.1 km∕(24 × 3600 s)
        ≈ 0.464 km/s
  v_rot ≈ 1038 mi/h.

The GPS ground clocks on Earth are at rest with Earth, so that is also
approximately the speed of the GPS ground clocks.

The GPS satellites orbit at an altitude of h ≈ 20'000 km and complete one
orbit in approximately 12 h. So their mean equatorial orbital speed is

    v_o ≈ 2π (r_E + h)∕(12 × 3600 s)
        = 2π × ((6378.1 + 20'000) km)∕(12 × 3600 s)
        ≈ 3.837 km/s
    v_o ≈ 8582 mi/h.

That is not even close to “14,000 mph”.

Also, you forgot to read, and to quote (or was the omission intentional to
support your unshakable belief that relativity is wrong?), the rest of the
article that you are citing and quoting (Pogge 2017), for which the correct
URI is

<http://www.astronomy.ohio-state.edu/~pogge/Ast162/Unit5/gps.html>

(*one* dot, NOT two)

So you "forgot to consider" *gravitational* time dilation (according to
*general* relativity) that make the satellite clocks accumulate more proper
time than the ground clocks in the same ground clock proper time interval.

So that in total the satellite clocks would always be *ahead* of the ground
clocks. Pogge describes this simplified:

| The combination of these two relativitic effects means that the clocks
| on-board each satellite should tick faster than identical clocks on the
| ground by about 38 microseconds per day (45-7=38)!

Because of that they “were built to compensate” for that, too.

“Built to compensate” then means that the clocks are usual cesium atomic
clocks, but they have a frequency synthesizer that can be programmed. It is
programmed so that more periods of the Cs-133 hyperfine transition radiation
than usual are considered to be the duration of 1 s. Pogge describes this
simplified:

| The engineers who designed the GPS system included these relativistic
| effects when they designed and deployed the system. For example, to
| counteract the General Relativistic effect once on orbit, the onboard
| clocks were designed to "tick" at a slower frequency than ground reference
| clocks, so that once they were in their proper orbit stations their
| clocks would appear to tick at about the correct rate as compared to the
| reference atomic clocks at the GPS ground stations.

[Actually, the correction was performed in-orbit *after* it had been
determined that the satellite clocks were ahead, which confirmed special and
general relativity. The adjustments of the same kind were then the default
setting for the clocks of all future non-geostationary GNSS satellites. See
the corresponding report of 1978 of preliminary results for the NAVSTAR GPS
NTS-2 Satellite that I have already cited and quoted from several times
before: <http://www.dtic.mil/dtic/tr/fulltext/u2/a058591.pdf> ]

Any remaining difference to the ground clocks (for example, not all
satellites are moving in the same direction relative to the ground) is
compensated by a correction value that is incorporated into the time signal
and updated from the ground regularly.

See also Ashby 2002, cited in Pogge 2017.

That's the angular velocity omega ω = 2πf, not v_rot. Then standing at its
surface, you are revolving around the center, not rotate. Rotate is when
YOU would contain the center. But you don't. You learn this in
kindergarten, something you also missed.
