Assume the ONLY reason for the effectuated travel is the time discrepancy. One of them lived 2 years more (accumulate more clock-seconds along a period of 2 years). Empirical measurement, not only words. I am just wasting my time here.

I am just wasting my time here. actually the stay-at-home for instance accumulate clock-seconds along a 5 years, the travelling along a 3 years. 5-3=2 years. End of story. Irrecuperable.

Clocks in relative motions will accumulate different number of clock seconds between meetings and that effect is permanent as shown on each clock. Whereas a meter stick will maintain the same length between meetings.....this means that the predicted length contraction effect is not permanent. Better way to explain the length contraction equation is that the light path length of a moving meter stick is predicted to be 1/gamma meter long. This prediction is based on the assumption that the light-path length of the observer’s meter stick is its material length. > > When you measure a moving ruler's length, you obtain a value > smaller than when you stop it and measure it at rest. > When you measure the tick rate of a moving clock, you obtain > a value smaller than when you stop it and measure it at rest. > NEITHER "time dilation" nor "length contraction" is "permanent". > > You confuse "time dilation" with a DIFFERENT geometric effect: the fact that > different paths can have different path lengths. Stupid Ken, once again you write "between meetings". Twice. This means that either you are discussing the Traveling Twins scenario, or you are simply confused and don't know WTF you are talking about. (I suspect the latter). Anyway, the Traveling Twins scenario doesn't apply because there is an acceleration (turnaround). >> Ken, you have nothing to offer with a "better explanation" because you >> don't know what the original explanation is. No Sir, I am speaking from a position of a better theory. Your fanatical attitude is what prevents the advances in theoretical physics and cosmology.

Compare apples to apples, not apples to oranges. What you said is an assertion....”accumulated path distance” is not shown on the moving meter stick after a journey. Better interpretation: 1. the light path length of a moving meter stick is foreshortened by a factor of 1/gamma. 2. This prediction is based on the assumption that the light-path length of the observer’s meter stick is its material length. > > Apples to apples: two clocks show different accumulated elapsed time, > but the rates will be identical when they rejoin; to meter sticks show > different accumulated elapsed distance, but the lengths will be > identical when they rejoin. > > >> > >>>> > >>>> Ken, you have nothing to offer with a "better explanation" because you > >>>> don't know what the original explanation is. Yes, it is, if you use a meter stick that measures cumulative distance like a clock measures cumulative time. You're a little confused about how to measure distances and times. If you were going to measure the distance between Xenia and Toledo with a meter stick, the meter stick would not keep track of that by itself. You would have to pick up the stick and move it to the next spot on the road and then you would have to COUNT the number of times you did that. An analogous kind of clock would be a small hourglass that finishes after say a minute. Then to measure the time between breakfast and lunch, you would then have to pick up the hourglass and move it to turn it over and then you would have to COUNT the number of times you did that. Where you have confused yourself is that you have in your head a meter stick, which measures an INTERVAL of distance, and a wall clock, which measures an ACCUMULATION of time. You've mixed apples and oranges. If you want devices that both show the effect of different accumulations after a journey, then you need to use a device that measures ACCUMULATED distance, like you're using a device that measures ACCUMULATED time. > Better interpretation: > 1. the light path length of a moving meter stick is foreshortened by a factor of 1/gamma. > 2. This prediction is based on the assumption that the light-path length of the observer’s meter stick is its material length. There's no reason to grope for a "better explanation" that only works for you. All you need to do is to better understand the existing explanation, rather than confusing the hell out of yourself. -- Odd Bodkin -- maker of fine toys, tools, tables

But the length of the meter stick is the same in all frames.....so what is contracting? The SR answer: length contraction is not real. It is the geometric projection of a moving meter stick unto the observer’s x-axis. The Model Mechanics answer: The light-path length of a moving meter stick is shortened by a factor of 1/gamma. This prediction is based on the assumption that the light-path length of the observer’s meter stick is its material length. The above SR and Model Mechanics explanations are similar. The advantage of the Model Mechanics explanation is that it lead to the elimination of all the paradoxes derived from the SR explanation. > You would have to pick up the stick and move it to the next spot on the > road and then you would have to COUNT the number of times you did that. We are not talking about an hour glass for keeping accumulative time. We use the Cs 133 clocks.

An hourglass -- as I just got through saying -- is NOT an instrument for measuring cumulative time, just like a meter stick is NOT an instrument for measuring cumulative distance.
