Velocity is a one-way measure. What of the mechanical nature of one-way velocity pertaining to the TO of the FRO? These are invisible electromagnetic signals going from the source to sink; whereas, the sink to source (FRO) is also invisible. The end result is that we obtain a average speed only- and only when do we assume the go/come velocities to be equal, then we accept the isotropy of light to be valid.

Where's the mechanical advantage? They say censorship routes but rotation spins around it. About it! Of course, that's all conveniently geometric. They're Newton's two laws of motion. Yes there's a generally recognized difference about inertia and acceleration and velocity, about rest vis-a-vis velocity, where one can get faster but not more at rest (to a frame). Two objects of course though at constant velocities to each other are basically at rest as that frame. Then there's obviously the infinitely many degrees of acceleration (impulse function usually) then involved in the same and larger frames. That's then essentially a function of information in the frame.

Both velocity and speed can be mean values and speed can be both one or two way mean. In 1D scenarios, velocity is often treated in a scalar way as a both-signs velocity vector component. I intentionally do not say average, as an average is usually implied to be an arithmetic mean, while a mean speed is a harmonic mean. I.e. the mean speed v of 2 speeds v1 and v2 along the same distance in opposite directions is not ( v1 + v2 ) / 2, but 2 / ( 1/v1 + 1/v2 ) -- Poutnik ( The Pilgrim, Der Wanderer ) A wise man guards words he says, as they say about him more, than he says about the subject.

According to the book 'University Physics", by Sears/Zemansky/Young, 7th edition, 1987, page 28: The term speed has two different meanings: 1) magnitude of the instantaneous velocity 2) Average quantity of a total length of path divided by elapsed time. In the first case there is a number value. In the second case the average velocity would be zero because the total displacement is zero. Personally, these meanings can be improved in terms of whether they are one-way or two-way measures (I hesitate to identify measures as being velocities or speeds). I believe there may be inventions and categorizations that may better explain these higher hierarchical kinematical aspects.

The velocity as a vector has both respective meanings as well. There is the immediate velocity and the average velocity. The latter has its vector components equal to time integrals of the vector components of immediate velocity. one way or two way speed do not bring an extra quality, they just define a way the averaging is performed. Two way averaging has advantage of higher accuracy due longer path, longer interval and no need of clock synchronization. The obvious reason for one way speed is speed anisotropy, unless this anisotropy is ruled out, like it is for light in vacuum. -- Poutnik ( The Pilgrim, Der Wanderer ) A wise man guards words he says, as they say about him more, than he says about the subject.

Every SR observer predicts that a moving meter stick has a geometric projection of 1/gamma......however you can’t use this as material length contraction in combination with real clock slowing to say that the ratio for speed of light remains the same in all frames. The better explanation is as follows: 1. A moving clock second is worth gamma seconds on the observer’s clock. 2. The light-path length of a moving meter stick is gamma meter long. This prediction is based on the assumption that the light-path length of the observer’s meter stick is its material length. The combination of the above will give constant ratio for light speed in every frame of reference. read Chapter 4 of my book.
