It wasn't YOUR bomb programme. You are -- typically for an American -- 
forgetting the essential contributions made by British, Canadian and 
refugee-German scientists, without which there would have been no bomb.

Fuchs himself made major contributions, but he was increasingly 
concerned by his realization that the USA was not planning to pass on 
any information to its allies, most notably the USSR, in the war 
against Nazi Germany. After the war the USA tried, with partial 
success, to exclude even the UK from any information about the results 
from the Manhattan project. However, as we know, the Americans defeated 
Germany without any participation by anyone else, so why shouldn't they 
keep the results to themselves?

In reality, of course, it was primarily the USSR that defeated Germany, 
something Hitler understood perfectly well when he placed 35 Divisions 
on the Eastern Front and just one on the Western Front.

On the other hand, I can accept that it was the USA that defeated Japan.
