Forget them. Construct two clocks. Don't worry about their specific tick rate, just make sure they tick at the same rate. Similarly, construct two rulers. Again, don't worry about their specific lengths, just ensure that they are the same. Select two impartial observers. Now, choose a clock and a ruler and an observer, and accelerate them for a time, and then stop accelerating them. Let each observer measure out a distance using their rulers, and let them determine the speed of light by using their clocks to measure the time it takes for light to travel that distance. The result will come out to some number of clock ticks per ruler length. The experimental evidence supports the idea that each observer will arrive at the same number. Sylvia.
