I would agree, that 'Apollonian gasket' seem to be important.

But my own approach uses a different group and that is the rotation 
group SO3.

I assume, that spacetime is real and is composed from pointlike 
elements, which behave like complex four-vectors (or bi-quaternions).

These points have features, which are like a vector attached to that 
point. The points interact trough multiplicative connection and that 
could be understood as if these elements would twist each other in a 
specific way.

This makes these pointers (amplitudes) build timelike stable patterns. 
And such patterns are, what we call 'matter'.
