The impression of a colour is a certain feature of human beings and
their way to see. 'White' is actually a mixture of light with different
frequencies.

Now sunlight has almost a thermal spectrum of about 5800 K and we
interpret this as 'white'.

If we filter out blue, the remaining light is not interpreted as white
anymore, but as yellow.

Why 'filter out blue'?

Because the light scattered does not go in a straight path, hence is
missing from white.

If we increase the angle, we would expect more scattered light (blue)
and less red. This would generate a gradient of colour, which is not
observed.
