I made my monthly Costco run this morning and what a zoo it was. The
parking lot was packed but I lucked out and got a space near the door
because someone pulled out just as I was coming along. I headed first to
the cheese department and picked up a some blue cheese and Brie and then
went to the next aisle to look for the Emmental but the aisle was
blocked, mainly by two women. One of them had a cart and was facing me
and her friend was facing away from me. I stopped and waited patiently.
My cart was about a foot and half behind her. I was in no hurry and
didn't bother saying anything to get them to move. All of a sudden, the
woman spun around and took a fast step in my direction. Just one really
fast step and she whacked her hip on my cart.

I cringed. I figured it must have hurt. She said "Sorry". I guess she
realized she had done something wrong and was apologizing for crashing
into my cart. I simply nodded. She went on her way and I went on mine.
I went back over to the other side to have another look for one of the
cheeses I wanted. All of a sudden this women came storming back toward
me and started to give me a blast, saying that she was really sore from
me ramming my cart into her and I didn't even apologize or ask if she
was hurt. Well hell, I figured that when she apologized she was
acknowledging that it was her fault. I said "I am sorry you were hurt"
so then she said that I should have apologized when it happened. No. I
was sorry that she was hurt, but I was not apologizing for anything.
She was the one who suddenly turned and crashed into me. She was
insisting that I had pushed my cart into her. That left me in the
awkward thinking I should find a way to retract my comment that I was
sorry she was hurt. I mean... I should be sorry she was hurt, but I am
pissed off that she blamed me for her spastic actions.

At any rate, I got most of what I wanted, headed to the check out and it
was surprisingly fast. I took my stuff out to the car, returned the
cart to the cart farm, checked to make sure it was clear to back up.
Someone had stopped to let me out so he could have the spot. Perfect.

Did you follow her home and come back later to dump trash at her place?

I'm sure you did punish her fully Officer Dave!

People always seem to mistreat you Dave. Keep up the revenge Officer!

Dave, you really need to severely punish this bitch for degrading your
personal integrity. If you don't, the bitch OWNS you!

In that case, your police status should be revoked in Canada.

People can be so irritating. First these two block the aisle because
they're standing there chit-chatting, then the one woman whirls around
and slams herself into your cart and this is somehow your fault? Then
she comes back and berates you for it? This is one reason I dislike
grocery shopping.

Yeah. It was odd. I had waited quite patiently behind her. It wasn't
like I came flying around the corner and rammed her. I had come around
the corner, saw the aisle was blocked and waited patiently, and I will
admit that it is unusual for me to be patient. I was really surprised
when she spun around and took one long, fast step and ran into my cart. I
saw and heard the impact and I am sure it did hurt. She immediately said
"sorry" and walked away.... the other way. So I don't even understand
why she had spun around and walked my way. I thought that was it, that
she had apologized for running into me and that she was okay.

I guess that when the shock passed and it started to hurt that it
couldn't have been her fault.

I did see a humorous incident in a bargain grocery store a few years
ago. There was a skid of stock sitting on one side of an aisle. I was
going to scoot past it but there was a woman coming the other way so I
was polite and waited for her to go through first. Big mistake. FWIW,
she was a very large woman. She stopped right beside that stack of stock
and carefully looked at everything on the nearby shelves and stationed
herself there long enough that there were people lined up behind us.
The woman behind she said "excuse me" hoping she would take the hint and
move but the woman knew she had a good block going and ignored her. The
woman behind her then rammed her cart into the blocker, whacking her in
the ankles. The blocker started whine "Ow. That hurt, That really hurt.
I looked at the woman who had rammed her, smiled and gave her a thumbs up.

sometimes people do things like that intending to file a
complaint with the store to sue for medical expenses or
damages. i would have noted the incident with the manager
of the store to make sure to keep any tapes from the
cameras just in case it ever comes up in court.

their cars into others expecting insurance companies to
pay them off.

I had considered that but figured this was a big booboo on her part. It
wasn't like she fell down and carried on at the time but I saw and heard
the contact and figured it must have really hurt, but after saying Sorry
to me she turned and went the other way.

If there is surveillance video it should show pretty clearly that I was
not that close to her and and was just standing there with the cart in
front of me, and that she had just spun around and took a quick step...
crash.

That's why I have a dash cam. I used to see a lot of fake accident
crashes on FaceBook and I came to understand why they are so popular
over there. The one time I really needed one was when I hit a deer. The
audio would have caught our conversation over the last minute or so
before the impact. My wife reminded my that the speed limit on that road
had recently dropped to 50 kph and she looked over and saw that was what
I was doing and she commented on how easy it is to keep my car at 50kph,
unlike most cars. She also reminded me that, being just past sundown, to
watch out for deer on that road. And then all of a sudden the deer came
running across the road right in front of me. Wouldn't you know there
turned out to be a problem with my memory card and it had not been recorded.

There was a tragic loss in an apparent crash scam near year a few years
ago. A family had spent the day in Niagara Falls and was heading back to
the Toronto area. A truck ran into the back of the car and the adults
were all unhurt but a 5 year old child was killed.

The pieces of the puzzle started fitting together. It had been a last
hurrah for several of the passengers who had been taken to see the falls
for their last day in Canada because they were being deported back to
Hungary the next day. Aside from the possible insurance scam, the
deportees would probably need to stay as witnesses. They were all Romas
trying to get asylum here. The driver of the car was charged and
convicted but the poor truck driver is left with the guilt of having
been in a crash that killed a 5 year old child.

Sad but true, songbird. I worked for a company that handled liability
claims processing for large companies. There was an instance where a
woman slipped and fell in a store; it was caught on the security
cameras. She might have had a legit claim... except she looked around
and saw she was the only person in that aisle. No witnesses. So she
got up, went to an aisle where there were other people and "slipped and
fell" again. Claim denied.

This one is welcome to complain and to go to the management for video.
I had kept a decent distance behind her and was stopped for a period of
time before she literally spun around and took one long fast step into
my card. I realized right away that it must have heard, especially
considering the sound of her hip bone hitting the metal cart. At the
time it happened I felt sorry for her, but, looking back at it and the
way she accosted me and blamed me for it..... no. The best I can hope
now is that it was a learning experience for her.
