I made my monthly Costco run this morning and what a zoo it was. The
parking lot was packed but I lucked out and got a space near the door
because someone pulled out just as I was coming along. I headed first to
the cheese department and picked up a some blue cheese and Brie and then
went to the next aisle to look for the Emmental but the aisle was
blocked, mainly by two women. One of them had a cart and was facing me
and her friend was facing away from me. I stopped and waited patiently.
My cart was about a foot and half behind her. I was in no hurry and
didn't bother saying anything to get them to move. All of a sudden, the
woman spun around and took a fast step in my direction. Just one really
fast step and she whacked her hip on my cart.

I cringed. I figured it must have hurt. She said "Sorry". I guess she
realized she had done something wrong and was apologizing for crashing
into my cart. I simply nodded. She went on her way and I went on mine.
I went back over to the other side to have another look for one of the
cheeses I wanted. All of a sudden this women came storming back toward
me and started to give me a blast, saying that she was really sore from
me ramming my cart into her and I didn't even apologize or ask if she
was hurt. Well hell, I figured that when she apologized she was
acknowledging that it was her fault. I said "I am sorry you were hurt"
so then she said that I should have apologized when it happened. No. I
was sorry that she was hurt, but I was not apologizing for anything.
She was the one who suddenly turned and crashed into me. She was
insisting that I had pushed my cart into her. That left me in the
awkward thinking I should find a way to retract my comment that I was
sorry she was hurt. I mean... I should be sorry she was hurt, but I am
pissed off that she blamed me for her spastic actions.

At any rate, I got most of what I wanted, headed to the check out and it
was surprisingly fast. I took my stuff out to the car, returned the
cart to the cart farm, checked to make sure it was clear to back up.
Someone had stopped to let me out so he could have the spot. Perfect.
