Thank you. That's one way to eliminate the paradox.

FWIW, a used MMPB from AbeBooks is now on its way to me. AbeBooks
typically saves you a few dimes over the other guy. [1]

"Grandfather Clause" is absent from Nahin's _Time Machines_ (my hobby
horse). Vinge's _Marooned in Real Time_ (the current object of my
obsession) is also missing from the Nahin.

That's a shame because _Marooned_ eliminates the Grandfather Paradox.
It limits temporal movement to only one direction: the future. There is
no going back to a previous time.

So, does time travel _Marooned_ style eliminate all paradoxes? That's
the open question in my mind.

The Nahin contains much more than just Science Fiction. It talks about
the "Arrows of Time". Eddington says that increasing entropy is an arrow
of time. Cross' "Prisoner of Time" mentions Eddington by name and uses
a bubble with zero entropy to propel a damsel in distress forward into
the future.

_Marooned_ uses "bobbles" that enable people to travel forward into
future. The people inside the bobble do not age. The bobble interior
remains timeless until it opens. It follows that bobbles also use zero
entropy, but thus far (three of the four story segments serialized in
_Analog_ now read) Vinge does not mention entropy.

Note.
