And taking a look at "Backgammon" I can confirm that after installation and first play, it's only taking up about 305MB.

Hi badgolferman, Being purposefully helpful (which is what Apple trolls can never be), I don't doubt that the ads, especially videos, take up huge space. As you know, I generally don't use apps which have advertisements (as I spend my energy finding better apps that do the same things, without them). However... the cartoonify apps (which are great) have these obnoxious full-page 30-second loud video popups - which at first shocked me that anyone would put up with such crap - until I found how to block them. Now I use the cartoonify apps all the time, and I don't see any ads. I'm not sure which one step did most of the blocking, but it might simply be that I started using privatedns settings which I think iOS has also. Looking at my Android, the privatedns server is adblock.dns.mullvad.net but each platform (unfortunately) sets up system-wide blocks differently. <https://avoidthehack.com/best-dns-privacy> Android uses the domain name while Windows uses the IP address. Sometimes you have to use the URL. It's a mess to have three ways, I agree. But it is what it is. I have no need for ad blocking on iOS because I've never seen an ad in iOS in my life, but again, that's because my apps on iOS don't bring up ads. If I were to be able to copy a photo easily to iOS and, at the same time, if iOS were to allow screenshotting of the protected views, I might do so. Looking up how to set a system-wide privatedns on iOS, apparently iOS 16 introduced a system-wide setting for DNS over HTTPS (DoH). iOS16+:Settings > VPN & DNS > DNS Servers > DNS over HTTPS Enter any desired free adblocking private dns server URL, e.g., https://adblock.dns.mullvad.net/dns-query Tap "Save" in the top right corner. Your iOS device should now be using Mullvad's ad-blocking DNS server for all network connections (both Wi-Fi & cellular). Doing this simple step enhances privacy by preventing even your ISP from tracking you, and it prevents 3rd-party tracking also. But for you what it will do most is block all known ad sites that it knows about. This is good for you in every way, e.g., your system should be faster, it should have less garbage in your cache, you won't see ads that it blocks in any app, including in your web browsers, etc. If there's a downside, let me know as it seems to be a no-brainer to me.

For badgolferman, I try to be helpful, so I had tested it on my iOS 16 iPad. But I have an iOS 18 iPad also. Let me check it to help you. Strategically, you should *never* see an ad on any platform. If you do see an ad, you're doing something wrong (IMHO). On my iOS 18 iPad, let me look in the same place for you... 1. Settings 2. General 3. VPN & Device Management Drat. It's not there. Mea culpa. I'm sorry. I led you astray. Let me google that for you... ah, it's somewhere else in iOS 18. 1. Settings 2. Wi-Fi (this assumes you're connected to an AP) 3. Tap the current Wi-Fi AP connection blue (i) 4. Tap on "Configure DNS" (scroll down to see it) 5. Select "Manual" 6. Tap "Add Server" 7. Type 100.64.0.1 8. Optionally repeat step 6 & 7 with 100.64.0.2 9. The settings should take effect immediately You might have to do that for every AP (I only have one set up since this is an iPad that sits there every day watching Apple beg me to log in constantly - so it has no need to be on more than one Wi-Fi forever). Note that there are three ways to set DNS depending on the operating system and version, one of which is the IP address (as used above), another of which is the HTTP address (as I previously showed) and a third is the FQDN (fully qualified domain name) where you use whatever the platform wants. There are MANY privateDNS ad blockers, but this is the one I use on Android which works well for me. Your mileage may vary. What I'll do, to help, is I'll keep it set with those two additions (since I didn't have a private DNS set up on this iPad as this iPad is just sitting there, unused, waiting for Apple to unilaterally brick it). It has been my experience that after two years of NOT logging into Apple servers every day of your life, Apple unilaterally bricks the iPad. They did that twice to two different iPads of mine where the only way to unbrick it is to literally go to the Apple store with a government ID and prove who you are. So much for Apple's brazen public lies about privacy, huh? Let me know how it works out for you. I can't think of a downside.

Oh, yes, please do cry harder for the poor trolls who regularly call Apple users stupid, iOS devices dumb terminals, and claim Apple devices can't do what we all know they can do! How dare someone correct their bullshit using profanities (oh my!) and turn their own vitriol back on them! HOW UNFAIR TO THE TROLLS! No, you see, the people who stand up to bullies are the REAL BULLIES, guys! 🤣 Here's a thought: If you can't take it, don't dish it out. -- E-mail sent to this address may be devoured by my ravenous SPAM filter. As is almost always the case, There's an App for That™ (in fact, there are numerous apps that ). There are are numerous apps that let you initiate a transfer from any computer to an iOS device, typically through a web browser and over WiFi. You can find them easily with simple searches, too. But you're not interested in reality, because you desperately want to pretend it's supposedly not possible. 😉 > That's how it's done natively for every operating system except for iOS. > 1. Sit at Windows > 2. Plug the phone into the USB port > 3. Using the Windows file explorer, slide files onto the Android device. Open any file sharing app and follow the instructions which are generally to point a web browser to the iOS device IP address, then transfer to your heart's content. Works fine. Alternatively, connect to any SMB share in the Files app and transfer to your heart's content. It's telling you can't seem to figure out how do this very basic thing with your own devices when the rest of us have been doing it for literal decades. Your trolls are as weak as your intellect, little Arlen. > Most people here aren't aware that you Apple trolls Fuck off, troll. -- E-mail sent to this address may be devoured by my ravenous SPAM filter.
