Io sceglierei una qualche motherboard ASUS con un AMD AthlonXP+2600 ed 
una sk video ATI almeno da 128Mb con installato WinXP oppure Vista. 
Aggiungi una printer multifunzione inkjet USB (meglio se con testina di 
stampa rimuovibile, suggerisco di cercarti una HP della famiglia F2200) 
con mouse e tastiera rigorosamente PS2, ed ovviamente con un monitor CRT 
da 17" o 21".

Tutti i powermac avevano motherboard Tsunami ma con bus di sistema non 
superiore ai 66Mhz, mentre i PC correvano a 100Mhz-133-166-200-233-266Mhz 
di bus, Apple per coprire le lacune hardware, mise backside L2/L3 cache 
sulle cpu con opra bus a 233 ma, tutto nei G3 ronzava a 66Mhz anche 
avendo tolto la SCSI per il firewire, anche avendo tolto il drive 1.44, 
anche avendo messo la USB.

Per vedere su motherboard Apple un bus di sistema sopra i 66Mhz (quando i 
PC già sfondavano nella fascia entry level 233Mhz di bus clock) toccò 
aspettare i G4 mentre sui PC Intel già sfornava multicore Intel i2.

Quindi per EVIDENZIARE IL PERIODO DEL SORPASSO che c'è stato nella lotta 
Wintel.CISQ vs Apple.RISC, con relativa omolagazione hardware finale ti 
serve IMHO necessariamente parecchio hardware pc (che oggi è datato, 
facilmente rintracciabile per pochi euro) il quale era assai più 
performante di quanto l'hardware Apple offrisse durante il passaggio tra 
MacOS Classic e OS-X, con il PC-Gaming che volava nel settore PC home.

quindi :-) riassumendo io suggerirei, per avere un mini museo 
rappresentativo della storia dell'evoluzione del computer:

IL COMPUTER PIÙ VENDUTO NEL MONDO=Commodore 64 

COMPUTER 8 BIT= Apple ][e

COMPUTER 16BIT=AMIGA 600

MONDO PC IL SORPASSO NEI 32BIT=socket7 oppure slotA

WINTEL.CISQ VS APPLE.RISC= Apple Mini Tower G3 VS AMD Athlon+2600/XP o 
Vista

a latere

COMPUTER DA COLLEZIONE:
Macintosh LC630: ultimo Macintosh con architettura Motorola 680x0

POWERMAC TOWER G5 MULTICORE: ultimo Mac Multicore prima di Intel
