Hallo --

Passend zu wiederkehrenden Themen in der Gruppe (brave new world vs
Verweigerung von allem, was auch nur entfernt mit 'smart' beworben wird)
möchte ich dringlich von der Lektüre abraten. Ich bin ein gutes Viertel
drin und es gibt ein sehr flaues Gefühl im Magen.

Zuboff definiert und erklärt, wie die Überwachungsökonomie funktioniert.
Begriffe wie 'behavioural surplus' und 'data exhaust' klingen erst mal
martialisch, treffen's aber recht gut. Wenn man die Muster einmal
gezeigt bekommen hat, erkennt man sie mühelos in allen möglichen
Anwendungen wieder. Das Verhalten des Menschen ist Rohstoff für die
Hersteller von immer präziseren 'prediction products'. Diese sind
zunächst noch mit Warscheinlichkeiten und Ungenauigkeiten behaftet,
aber zunehmend kann man definierte Auskünfte darüber geben, wie
Menschen sich verhalten werden - indem man ihr Verhalten beeinflusst.

Sie erklärt einige Beispiele, die oberflächlich bekannt sind, und zeigt,
wie aktuell verschiedene Anwendungen schon auf dem Geschäftsmodell
basiert sind. Das macht ihre These, dass der Überwachungskapitalismus
darauf hinwirkt, die Lebensführung der Menschen ohne ethische Bedenken
ökonomisch zu 'optimieren' glaubhaft.

Ich hoffe, dass es irgendwann später im Buch Kochrezepte gibt, wie man
das umleiten oder lösen kann. Momentan baue ich darauf, dass es immerhin
noch Kapitalismus ist und es ums Geld geht. Wie schon Herr Corleone
verstand 'it's nothing personal... just business.'

Ich nage momentan am Konzept des 'Uncontract' ('Nichtvertrages') herum.
Die Idee, dass das soziale Konstrukt des Vertrages (mehrere Parteien
einigen sich auf eine Transaktion, evaluieren Vorteile, Risiken, müssen
eventuelle Dispute lösen und dergleichen mehr) abgelöst wird durch 'hier
ist ein auf Dich abgestimmtes Angebot, das meinen Gewinn und mein Risiko
optimiert, was anderes gibts nicht'.

Mir hat's den Tag schon mal gründlich verdorben.
