Nehmen wir Bauelement mit einer nicht-linearen Kennlinie I = U^3 an. Der differentielle Widerstand dU/dI ist bei dieser Kennlinie nirgendwo negativ. Trotzdem entstehen selbstverständlich bei Anregung mit zwei Signalen Harmonische und Intermodulation an diesem Bauelement.
