Hi All I have a couple of Transtech TMB08 boards (one with 16-bit and one with 8-bit ISA connector). Boards are currently setup as per the details in the following link http://www.transputer.net/mg/tmbm711/tmbm711.pdf for a standalone card. Underlying host is an i486DX2-66 with only a video and HDD & FDD drive controller (all serial/parallel/game are disabled). Trying 1 card at a time and get the same result. Picking I must be missing something :-) Switches Setting Description for the newer 16bit connector ISA card. Similar default config for the 8 bit ISA card. S1 On base address 0x150 S2 On S3 off Use 20 Mbit/s links S4 on Slot1-9 reset as slot 0 S5 off Slot 0 controlled from PC When I put a TRAM in either and then run ispy for dos against it I get the following error. error - ispy - Failed to boot root transputer, only took 1 byte(s) if I tell ispy not to reset the root transputer then I get error - ispy - Failed to boot root transputer, only took 0 byte(s) I have also fully populated a board with TRAMS from and get the same issue. I do not get this error on my IMSB008 board with the same TRAM(s). My IMSB004 board also reports well when in the system. Open to suggestions, thoughts. Thanks in advance. Regards Richard

Hi Richard! First: Insert only one TMB08 without any TRAM (Standalone config). Always start with debug.com (maybe from an msdos bootdisk): > o 160 1 > o 160 0 > o 160 1 > o 160 0 ... This should toggle the reset pin on tram 0 socket. Then try: > o 160 1 > o 161 0 > o 160 0 > i 152 > 0 > i 153 > 1 This shows the ready IMSC012. After that, connect Link0In and Link0Out on the tram 0 socket: Now you can send a byte to the IMSC012 and receive it. This command sequence is your homework :-) If everything is fine, we can continue. Kind regards Mike

What command sequence do you want me to run after having connected Link0In and Link0Out? Results as follows ================ 8bit ISA Interface - Transtech TMB08 - circa 1989, has C004 and T222 on board ================ Jumpers IBM/up - Closed Mod0SS - Open A1 - Open A2 - Open A3 - Open IRQ 3 DRQ 1 DAK 1 Patch as standalone per manual ======= c:\debug -o 160 1 -o 160 0 -o 160 1 -o 160 0 -o 160 1 -o 161 0 -o 160 0 -i 152 00 <-this was the result obtained. As Expected -i 153 01 <-this was the result obtained. As Expected -q c:\ ================ 16bit ISA Interface - Transtech TMB08 - RevD - has a wire wrap in the C004 socket ================ jumpers S1 On base address 0x150 S2 On S3 off Use 20 Mbit/s links S4 on Slot1-9 reset as slot 0 S5 off Slot 0 controlled from PC patch as per standalone ================ c:\debug -o 160 1 -o 160 0 -o 160 1 -o 160 0 -o 160 1 -o 161 0 -o 160 0 -i 152 01 <-this was the result obtained. Hi! Let us focus on the 8bit Interface: >What command sequence do you want me to run after having connected Link0In and Link0Out? -o 160 1 -o 161 0 -o 160 0 -i 152 00 -i 153 01 -o 151 AB -i 152 01 -i 153 00 -i 150 AB -i 152 00 -i 153 01 If the result is identical you have successfully transferred a single byte. Now we try a PEEK/POKE sequence against a single TRAM. Please remove the Link0In and Link0Out connection and insert a single TRAM (with a 32bit Transputer) in Slot 0. -o 160 1 -o 161 0 -o 160 0 -o 151 0 <- POKE 0x76543210 to 0x80000070 -o 151 70 -o 151 00 -o 151 00 -o 151 80 -o 151 10 -o 151 32 -o 151 54 -o 151 76 -o 151 1 <- PEEK from 0x80000070 -o 151 70 -o 151 00 -o 151 00 -o 151 80 -i 150 10 -i 150 32 -i 150 54 -i 150 76 I've skipped the status query -i 152/-i 153. Please note: These sequences are only quote from memory! -Mike

Now when I put a TRAM in with a T800 on board -o 160 1 -o 161 0 -o 160 0 -o 151 0 -o 151 70 -o 151 00 -o 151 00 -o 151 80 -o 151 10 -o 151 32 -o 151 54 -o 151 76 -o 151 1 -o 151 70 -o 151 00 -o 151 00 -o 151 80 -i 150 00 <-not as expected -i 150 00 <-not as expected -i 150 00 <-not as expected -i 150 00 <-not as expected have done this three times to make sure, same result... out of curiosity do I need to do anything with the D connector on the back like I see in the manual it says to do for the TMB04?

Hi! >do I need to do anything with the D connector on the back I have to read about this ... in general only if the link inputs are floating. As TRAMs has pull-downs this should be not necessary. Please check all 16 TRAM 0 pins. http://www.transputer.net/tn/29/tn29.html#x1-40003 VCC ok? LinkSpeedA high? LinkSpeedB high? ClockIn available? Link?In all low? Link?Out all low? Reset toggles with -o 160 1/0/1/...? Analyse toggles with -o 161 1/0/1/...? notError pull to low/open should be visible with -i 160 as 1 or 0 -Mike

Greatly apprecaited. Will take a look at the voltages/states over the weekend. In the mean time I found this post about the 16 BIT ISA Card https://hackaday.io/project/5358-keplermatik/log/18469-trams-green-wires-and-fake-b008s The card shown is identical to the card that I have except that it doesn't have the T2xx on board. So as per the post I removed the line driver from TRAM Slot 1,hedgehog and the two greenwires at the back of TRAM0 and its now working. So 1 down. 1 to go.
