For instance, iPhotos has comments that I use to temporarily store bite trips while I rebuild a database software from my old VMS one. If the conversion to Photos results in the loss of those comments, it means that I have to complete the software and do the data entry from that data (and images) before the upgrade. Apple caters to the masses, the average users who don't have important data and don't use the iPhoto system the way I do, so I risk losing functionality.
