There is no way to tell. The last drives I bought (or will ever buy)
from Amazon clearly said they were sold by Amazon and had the
manufacturer's warranty; Not "a warranty" but the manufacturers
warranty/ Both these statements were lies.

It did. It was not. As far as I am concerned, what Amazon did was fraud.

I did have some Amazon marketplace issues with drives several years ago
(I bought 4 drives, all were OEM, I returned them and got four "new"
drives. All were OEMs. I canceled the order and returned the four
replacements. Since then I was VERY careful that nothing I bought was
ever from Amazon Marketplace.

After I complained and they told me to fuck off they wouldn't do
anything but give me the contact info for whatever bullshit company
they used, they did update the listing to remove their lies, but I did
keep screenshots a I planned to file against them in Small Claims.

Then the pandemic happened. So instead I simply stopped buying computer
parts from them. In fact, I don't think I have used my account at all
this year, although it is possible my wife has for household stuff. (She
has her own account but is careless about which account she is logged
into).

In short, don't trust Amazon to sell you what they said they sold you.

And if I have to check every serial number to make sure I am not being
defrauded, that's not a company I want to purchase goods from.
