Apple wouldn't be the first to contradict themselves with later 
"findings"*, but they aren't actually doing that, and it doesn't really 
have anything to do with dark working environments or night time use. 
"Dark Mode" is there mostly as a simple user preference - some people 
will prefer using "light" theme, some will prefer the "dark" theme.

* All the garbage reported by "health studies" is constantly being 
contradicted by the next sillly "study" ... which is why you should 
just ignore them all and they shouldn't be allowed to be reported in 
normal news media (all that does is worry the hypocondriacs!).
