When I'm on the road I can usually wait for uncapped WIFI before doing
this kind of thing (or even just wait until I get home).

So presumably you just trust the safety of the device(s) you are
traveling with while you are on the road?  That probably makes sense
in a lot of situations.

Why should you if you have something that works better?  As for me,
iPhoto together with iCloud keeping things synced is kind of nice.
