Warren Oates: > Even now, if I want the US Netflix via my VPN, I have to use a computer > and a browser, rather than a set-top-box (like a Blu-ray player) because > the latter is somehow locked to some strange DNS thingie and you can't > even proxy through a VPN-connected computer the bastards. But that isn't Netflix's fault, is it? Netflix would like to sell its service to you without regard to where in the world you are. The issue you are facing comes down to a matter of different entities holding the rights to the same media in different countries. These entities do not care about service or cooperation or digital anything, they care only about guarding their properties. Kind of like the low-down scum at Warner/Chappell Music claiming to own the traditional song "Happy Birthday To You," aka "Happy Birthday." Wanna sing it to a family member in a restaurant? No problem. That will be $700, please. The copyright expires in 2016 in Europe but not until 2030 in the Corporate State of America. -- I agree with almost everything that you have said and almost everything that you will say in your entire life. usenet *at* davidillig dawt cawm
