This was a civil discourse (or, if you prefer, a civil whine) before
you jumped in with your typical inanity. Still, I'll take you on, point
by point, even though you are too cowardly to use your name on your
posts.

* Forget Ethernet? Scientific instruments, including the research-grade
astronomical cameras that are of interest to me, have been problematic
for Mac users because many manufacturers did not write Mac drivers. Now
the makers are switching to Ethernet ports and the camera-control
software is built into the devices with a web interface. It requires
Ethernet. The laptop is the machine of choice in the observatory--but
Macs have no Ethernet ports.

* ADB ports and floppies? That's facetious. Instead, let's compare
FireWire and Thunderbolt. Visit OWC or the vendor and compare prices
and availability of portable, bus-powered, FW and Thunderbolt drives.

* CD/DVD drives? $ 79 in the Apple Store. Many people still use them. I
have an external Apple CD/DVD drive, though I rarely use it.

* The numeric keypad was never on my PowerBooks or MacBook Pros, but I
have them on the Apple-brand keyboards of all three of my iMacs, and I
make much use of them, as does everyone who performs extensive
numerical calculations.

I agree with almost everything that you have said and almost everything that
you will say in your entire life.
