Apple spent a lot of ad money convincing me that FireWire and gigabit Ethernet were great. The 17" MBPro was *the* machine for the "Creative Pro." Now what do I get? A skinny--sorry, sleek--little 15" laptop with no FW, no Ethernet, a paltry two USB ports, an HDMI port (do so many people tie up their $3k laptops by connecting them to a TV when an Apple TV costs $69?) and two Thunderbolt ports, each of which is useless to me without a bulky and annoying $30 adapter. With those adapters my 36 cm-wide laptop grows to a width of 48 cm. I also lost my separate audio-in and audio-out ports. I imagine my next MBP will be sleeker yet, consisting of a solid block of beautifully machined aluminum with no seams, no hinges, no internal components. Everything will be in a black plastic external box, 40x40x20 cm, with no connection to the inert MBP. -- I agree with almost everything that you have said and almost everything that you will say in your entire life. usenet *at* davidillig dawt cawm
