Yep, even ballpoint pen (or any ink) isn't infallible. It depends on
the ink, the paper, the conditions it's kept in, etc. A lot of
ballpoint pen inks fade from blue / black to a dirty brown, and then,
eventually, fade away completely.

Your best bet is to carve the passwords into a stone. Just don't leave
the stone outside in the wind, rain, snow, ... otherwise that too will
eventually become unreadable.   :-)
