MacOS, to me, is like a Mexican woman who looks alright with make-up but
like the pig that she is without.

That's all the "improved productivity and error-reduction" operating
system is.

Apple does one thing very good and that is graphics. If you look at a
program like Adobe on a Mac and then look at the same program on a Windows
box with a similar monitor, the Mac will almost always look better. The
scaling, dpi and fonts just look really, really, really good. With Windows
the user has to play around with dpi, desktop settings and so forth and
people with 4k monitors quickly realize text is so small they can barely
read it.

Other than that, Apple is a huge waste of money in my opinion.
And reliability and serviceability sucks big time. So does upgrade ability.

That's why most people get Apple Care, which I will admit is excellent.
They really do take care of their customers. They should considering how
much all this stuff costs.

Apple "does one thing (graphics) better" because OSX based on UNIX and the
application makers (like Adobe) take advantage of that superior platform.
They could do the same for Linux, but figure there's not enough market for
it.

Whatever they are doing it looks great. I wish Linux could do the same.
Take a look in BestBuy next time you are there. The Apple boxen just look
really good. It's easily noticeable.

They use proprietary mechanics to achieve form but at the expense of
function, at least with regards to what I wrote above.
The Windows world does this as well with oddball mini PC's but the
difference is there are alternatives for the consumer. Dell has been doing
it for years. With Apple it's take it or leave it.

Daughter had an iPhone with cracked screen. No Apple care. They let her
purchase Apple Care for like $75 and the screen was covered. Without it the
replacement would have been like $150.. Making up the numbers as I don't
remember but it was substantial.
I was impressed that they offered that option.

Bottom line is I would never buy an Apple product without the Apple Care
warranty. Never.

That and tech issues with Linux... trying to work on all distros is not
easy for them. One of their developers has written about this.

> Whatever they are doing it looks great. I wish Linux could do the same.

They do... but I will agree they focus on looks over function at times.
My big examples is making the iMac so thin. I get it on a mobile
computer, but a desktop? Makes no sense. Make it a bit thicker and then
allow users to more easily swap hard drives and RAM as needed.

There are certainly trade offs. I love the iMac screens but as I said
above there is certainly stuff about their hardware I do NOT like. For
me it is more about what I can do with a system... and I tend to "live"
in the GUI and jump from program to program a lot. It takes the idea of
doing that in the UNIX CLI and brings it to a large extent to the GUI...
and to me that is of great value.

With that said, here I am working on a really, really crappy Usenet
client because that is the best I can find on macOS. I could use a CLI
one, but prefer GUI programs. For some things the macOS programs are FAR
from ideal.

Most companies sell warranties.

Their customer service is second to none.

I have had to use it a few times and now always get it. Does not pay off
for each computer I have owned but overall it has. And if I have an
issue they pay for someone to come to my house to fix it if I want...
even though there is no Apple store within 100 miles of me.

It's not Apple who is "doing it," it's Adobe. And Linux can't "do the same"
because Adobe Photoshop is proprietary application.

There's basically nothing that MacOS or Windows can do that Linux can't.
Hell, Linux can play Windows games better than Windows 10 can (if they're
old, anyway). Considering how good GIMP has become though, there is truly
little reason to buy Photoshop unless you've been trained with it as a
professional and have gotten accustomed to the interface. For _everyone_
else, GIMP is way more than enough.

Neither will I. My wife uses an iPhone 8 Plus from work but even she is
disgusted with the company and she's a lot more resistant to boycotting
corporations than I am.

The only company I think I would have trouble boycotting is Puma... but
if ever they pull some Kapernick-like garbage like Nike did, I'll burn
the shoes and get me some New Balance.

Simply not true.

New Balance has gone HORRIBLY down hill... but whatever. Why burn them
and not donate them, assuming they are in decent condition?

Can UTF-8 characters be concatenated into a string with a logical connection to the "real" world; that is the question posed recently by those astonished at the non-stop flood of gibberish from trolls and Cheetos smelling losers. His goal is to see me frustrated by having me get blamed for his actions. And hey, that could kill this group. Do you have a Network+ certification? Proof Snit Glasser accuses everyone of being Snit http://sandman.net/files/snit_circus.png.

There is also the *how* to be considered (IOW, not just the "can"). For example,
there's no way I'd give up an app like Logic for doing audio work to run Linux
equivalents... because there really aren't any that *are* equivalent. So, yeah,
it's all about recording but the *how* in the process makes tons of difference.

In fact Jonas Eklundh Communication's lies became directed at me. So obviously I regret assisting Jonas Eklundh Communication. While I am sure he liked it, he has taught me to never try to appease a troll. This is just a hobby of Jonas Eklundh Communication's.

I thought showing Jonas Eklundh Communication some kindness might help the situation. It did not.

Everyone is Jonas Eklundh Communication -- the oldest gag in the book.

What would you do if software like Logic, or Ardour for Linux,
did not exist?

You'd be dead in the water. You wouldn't know what the fuck
to do. You wouldn't know where the fuck to begin.

With GNU/Linux one can easily assemble, or create from
scratch, processing workflows that are not available
in ANY software package. I have done this on many
occasions.

But the dummy crowd, of which you are a member, is absolutely
dependent on Photoshop, Logic, etc. or else they'd be
as helpless as fish out of water.

I'd use what I still use for certain kinds of sounds, reel to reel. I've been
doing this long before digital multitrack audio became affordable.

LOL! Said the guy who thinks "gain" and "volume" are the same thing.

They are EXACTLY the same thing, idiot.

Amplifier gain is the ratio of output to input power (or voltage)
and that is exactly what "volume" specifies.

In other words, adjusting the "volume" control either
increases or decreases the amplifier gain.

You can now choke on that tidbit of undeniable, irrefutable
technical truth.

Idiot.

Facts about Steve "Steven Petruzzellis" Carroll

Steve "Steven Petruzzellis" Carroll will be 60 years old on August 29, 2018 and yet is still single, broke and yet with his skills he has nothing to show for it but flooding Usenet. He blames Jeff 'The Fool' Relf.Me for his loss of his wife and girlfriend and his begging of older women to sleep with him (http://www.seniorpeoplemeet.com/v3/externalsearch/singles?Profile=1AE1BDAAFC6D6F08ACA0C235BB8ED21D&Username=STEVECARROL). Steven is jealous of what Jeff 'The Fool' Relf.Me has and in a narcissistic rage repeatedly works to take it away from him. For over 10 years he has failed at even this. Steve "Steven Petruzzellis" Carroll is an utter failure in life.

Of his online life Steven says

I've been booted off by past providers before because people
complain about me and all my bullshit. I don't want to lose my ISP
*again* but I still need my army of sock puppets so I continually
search usenet for whatever servers I haven't yet been booted
    from.

Some examples where Steven has been booted

X10 Hosting booted Steven for inappropriate activity
http://tinyurl.com/z92qmz4

Comcast booted Steven for inappropriate activity
http://tinyurl.com/h75nh9l

FreeHostingEU booted Steven for copyright infringement http://devsite.eu.pn

AwardSpace (atwebpages.com) booted Steven for breaking terms of service
http://demsites.atwebpages.com/pokeman

Imgur took down an image for breaking terms of service http://imgur.com/yv2XppE

Had a GigaNews account which was removed for harassing Jeff 'The Fool' Relf.Me

Stopped posting from his fretwizzen Google account since shortly after I complained. Seems he lost that too.

His wife booted Steven to the curb for cheating on her

Only site Steven Petruzzellis has pointed to that has ever been available
http://web.archive.org/web/20161019062351/http://www.oldneighborhoodrestaurant.net/
https://goo.gl/DMno6J

Made by the Go Daddy Website builder and is utter crap. Later he denied he said he was merely taking credit for someone else's work but Steven is the contact person http://tinyurl.com/hcw6dul
http://web.archive.org/web/20161202192456/http://www.reservationdiary.eu/eng/reservation/d76d1156-e9f7-43c1-b77b-b07189857820

He also bragged he was working on an update and showed it here https://vid.me/u6RK

The business still failed.

He likely went to the Go Daddy Website Builder after he failed to get WordPress installed.

https://mu.wordpress.org/forums/topic/13879

This is why Steve "Steven Petruzzellis" Carroll attacks Jeff 'The Fool' Relf.Me.

Steven Petruzzellis was is divorced on June 22 , 2012 at the Golden Municipal Court House because his wife caught him screwing another woman.

Jeff 'The Fool' Relf.Me is married and by all appearances happily so.
He never complains about his wife in COLA.

Steven Petruzzellis is living on charity of a friend in a single room.

Jeff 'The Fool' Relf.Me does not live in a mansion or even a high end home but has a house and a yard.

Steven Petruzzellis has two kids but no respect. He repeatedly called Ryan his "little screwup" and refers to his son Steve as a "dick" and worse. He says at least one of them likely hacked his computer and is a "mentally deficient child." He mocks his possible future daughter-in-law as someone who takes too many selfies and is focused only on herself

Jeff 'The Fool' Relf.Me has two kids (or more) and never speaks poorly of them in public.
No reason to think they are not a happy family.

Steven Petruzzellis claims to be a stay at home dad who pays thousands of dollars for day care. Steven has no job and no purpose in life. Steven has given up and now seeks a mother-figure to date.

Jeff 'The Fool' Relf.Me has his own business doing technical work and also teaches.
Jeff 'The Fool' Relf.Me offers a true contribution to society.
Teachers are truly under appreciated.

I am not going to quibble with a retarded idiot.

It doesn't matter anyway because these are just terms
or jargon. What does matter are the physical concepts
and those are the things of which you know nothing.

That's the reason for software like Logic or Photoshop.
It allows even total dummies to be productive.
