...as it ever was and ever will be. The word "Linux" is the kiss of death for retail computers. "Linux" in the specs = automatic rejection by shoppers. "GNU/Linux" is even worse; it conjures images of idiots dancing around shamelessly in public in ugly antelope-head costumes tossing empty boxes of Windows into a big trash can. https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-mini-desktop-pcs/ https://www.techradar.com/best/mini-pcs https://www.amazon.com/Best-Sellers-Mini-Computers/zgbs/pc/13896591011 https://www.pcgamer.com/hardware/gaming-pcs/best-mini-pcs-for-gaming/ https://www.zdnet.com/article/best-mini-pc/ Before you get your panties in a wad: https://itsfoss.com/linux-based-mini-pc/

He also wrote 'Four Strong Winds'. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3m7ckGhnsc Ian & Sylvia had some popularity in the '60s but covers by other artists made a bigger splash. Tyson wrote many other songs that only he recorded. He was the real deal, a rodeo cowboy before an accident ended that career and he turned to music. After Sylvia split he was a rancher in Alberta, still writing but never made it big and didn't do many live performances. I saw him in the '90s when he played in a meeting room at UM, not a huge venue. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DqxWiX0fnE That's one of his later ones. Dallas was recaptured and served 22 years before he was released. There was no doubt he killed the game wardens but they were a long way from home. I've been in the Owyhee and from Boise you have to go down through Nevada to get there. In 1981 there were no GPSs so in the middle of nowhere the Idaho/Nevada line isn't marked on the sagebrush. Besides that there was a general feeling that Pogue needed to be shot but Elms was a nice guy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFzY6xZKrmY The 'springtime in Alberta' line works for Montana too.

Never heard of Ian Tyson before. I think I'll look up some of his music. > Ian & Sylvia had some popularity in the '60s but covers by other artists > made a bigger splash. So now I remember it, but it had completely slipped my mind. That was a well produced record. It's a shame Ian Tyson was better known. (At least not by me.) > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFzY6xZKrmY > > The 'springtime in Alberta' line works for Montana too. The guy had a good voice. My father lived in Langdon, North Dakota for a while. They talked about those spring blizzards coming through so hard that people froze to death between the barn and the house. It's hard to imagine, but it apparently it was true. -- “Evil is not able to create anything new, it can only distort and destroy what has been invented or made by the forces of good.” —J.R.R. I > think I'll look up some of his music. Tyson never was mainstream country. There are quite a few singer- songwriters that had a song or two that were covered by country artists but never made it big time themselves. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTwUpkEK6yk Jerry Jeff Walker did pretty good with it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOctHMWoYyc Nelson and Haggard had a hit with it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zaP8NGML_QE Emmylou Harris and Don Williams charted with that one. David Allen Coe reworked it into 'Would You Lay With Me' but Tanya Tucker's cover is the best known. Coe was a little too outlaw for outlaw country. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9UhOwfUAMA Crystal Gale's cover is the best known. I think Kristofferson did it too. Steve Earle did okay with 'Guitar Town' and 'Copperhead Road' but some of his other songs are better known by other artists. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heartworn_Highways Quite a few of the writers hung out together so there was a lot of cross pollination. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2OU4ZhZc5Zw Waylon doing a Steve Young cover.

And you would probably have a superior experience. My understanding is that if I had an ARM machine, a Linux distribution with full software support would already be available to me. It isn't meant to be a full laptop experience but the Raspberry Pi 5 running the Debian derived Raspberry Pi OS shows what is possible. It has Chromium or Firefox for broswers, a modified LXDE DE and move importantly for me, VS Code. It has Vim but not Gvim. I think that has to do with the Gtk version. People have put other distros on as well.
