Tyson never was mainstream country. There are quite a few singer-
songwriters that had a song or two that were covered by country artists 
but never made it big time themselves.

Jerry Jeff Walker did pretty good with it.

Emmylou Harris and Don Williams charted with that one. David Allen Coe 
reworked it into 'Would You Lay With Me' but Tanya Tucker's cover is the 
best known. Coe was a little too outlaw for outlaw country.

Crystal Gale's cover is the best known. I think Kristofferson did it too.

Steve Earle did okay with 'Guitar Town' and 'Copperhead Road' but some of 
his other songs are better known by other artists.
