I use the non-standard top buttons some, the scroll+press up and down fairly often, and the previous / next buttons all the time... but I cannot see the need for more. Much of this depends on the company behind the mouse rather than Linux vs. Windows. Do they follow a standard protocol for mouse buttons? (Is there even a standard protocol that covers a zillion mouse buttons?) Or do they do something proprietary? (And esp. if proprietary) Did they release Linux drivers or code examples applicable to Linux (or Mac FWIW)? Or did they cheap out and spend money only to develop a Windows driver?

From what I've read, it looks like everything is easy enough except for the gShift. The scancodes generated are the same whether the gShift is down or not. Apparently you'll need to boot into windows and change g600 "profiles" or whatever, so that different codes are generated, so that this state can then be detected under linux. IOW, you can do it, but preliminaries have to be dealt with under windows first. > What about RightClick, Pause, 'q' ? > > Even if someone has, > is it in a single Lua script, like my "g600.TXT" ? > I doubt it. I believe your lua script talks to the LGS software. Does that matter?

Thanks for saying something -- you have a lot more patience with Jeff
than I do.
# set a new font set
printf '\33]50;%s\007' 9x15,xft:Kochi" Mincho"
From man 7 urxvt:
Can I switch the fonts at runtime?
Yes, using an escape sequence. Try something like this,
which has the same effect as using the "-fn" switch, and
takes effect immediately:
printf '\33]50;%s\007' "9x15bold,xft:Kochi Gothic"
This is useful if you e.g. work primarily with japanese
(and prefer a japanese font), but you have to switch to
chinese temporarily, where japanese fonts would only be
in your way.
You can think of this as a kind of manual ISO-2022
switching.

I'd like to see "rxvt-unicode" displaying Greek, Emojies, cuneiform,
Japanese and Chinese all at once, in one screenshot.
Scott Doty can't show a screenshot, I can:

One shouldn't have to switch fonts manually, via printf().
CSS let you select which FontGlyph to use,
depending on the code point; to wit:
@font-face {
font-family: RelfsFont;
src: local(MS Mincho);
unicode-range: U+41-5A, U+61-7A, U+C0-FF;
}

So, instead of constantly whining how Linux cannot mix/match fonts (something which apparently only you care about), why not _fix_ Linux so that it does? That's the whole idea behind Linux. Better yet, come up with a custom font mixer tool, one that takes parts from Font A, part from Font B and part from Font C and produce a fantastic custom font.

Is that jackwagon saying that you can't mix fonts in LibreOffice? Certain terminals? Certain newsreaders? I mean, those things aren't Linux, but they can run in Linux, and some of them can mix fonts. It has nothing to do with "Linux". Maybe GNU Unifont would be enough for most purposes? http://unifoundry.com/unifont.html Check out the chart/picture shown there. -- You have had a long-term stimulation relative to business.
