And no one can reasonably claim that the opinions of dissidents were not
deleted considering how the establishment is behaving in suppressing
conservative opinions in general. Just two days ago, the founder of the
#walkaway movement on Twitter was banned for thirty days on Facebook for
saying the following:

"I will be on Infowars in 15 minutes."

No opinion shared whatsoever. No hate, no racism, no sexism, nothing. If
that is enough to silence a person on a social medium which regularly
collaborates with the government against the right, you can imagine that
a scientific opinion which dismisses a leftist agenda will cause the
opinion to be erased from history and the scientist's career itself to be
destroyed.

People will say that I'm exaggerating, but I too was essentially turned
into a second-class citizen at my previous workplace the moment it was
revealed that I don't lean left. These people truly are vicious.

The term "dissidents" really does not apply to science, nor should it apply.

One scientist may disagree with another scientists hypothesis, but it is up
to each scientist to defend his point of view with observations, correct
deductions, and sound mathematics.

Those scientists that might be called dissidents are mostly (not always,
even conventional science can be wrong on occasion) those who push outlier
observations, incorrect deductions, or no mathematical support.

Irrelevant to a discussion of science.

Not quite true. Infowars is well-known to float nasty views or unsupported
conspiracty theories.

Any scientist worth his/her salt won't give a rat's ass about "leftist vs
rightist agendas".

Weird. Where I work, the vast majority of the people would be considered
"right".

But, rightfully, we do not discuss right-vs-left issues, since they really
don't have a place in the work we do.

Except that the man mentioned that he would _be_ on Infowars, not that he
agrees or disagrees with whatever Alex Jones, David Knight, Owen Shroyer
or Roger Stone says. In other words, he did not express any kind of view;
he simply informed his supporters of his whereabouts. For that, he was
banned.

Agreed. However, the modal here shouldn't be "won't" as much as it should
be "should." If they are true scientists, their political beliefs will be
discarded from any results and they routinely aren't.

Agreed, but they also shouldn't have a place at Google, Apple and the
other companies which punish employees from the right. Even Jack Dorsey
of Twitter had to admit that the conservatives in his workplace are
afraid of speaking because of the consequences of "wrongthink."

I, identifying myself as a conservative (even though I'm truly centrist),
was also treated _very_ differently in the workplace. It was so bad that
I had to leave.

Nobody is throwing out such opinions of relevant scientists. There are
just very few if any relevant scientists who deny the evidence. If you
can find a small number good for you, I guess, you are able to hand-pick
extreme outliers to back your denial.

If you want to learn about science go to ANY scientific page where they
discuss the topic. Stop being willfully ignorant.

If the ocean was rising, it would be rising everywhere — not just on select
beaches. I'll have to explain to these "armchair" scientists how water flow
works some day.

Yeah, once you learn about it. For example, the fast flow of the Gulf
Stream means that, if you could walk on water, you would actually *descend*
a few feet.

Don't fall asleep in that armchair.

Dude, that was just one fact, and it is true.

   https://oceanservice.noaa.gov/facts/globalsl.html

Most people are surprised to learn that, just as the surface of the Earth
is not flat, the surface of the ocean is not flat, and that the surface
of the sea changes at different rates around the globe. For instance, the
absolute water level height is higher along the West Coast of the United
   States than the East Coast.

It's difficult to fall asleep, when foaming at the mouth. "Lying
bullshit! Lying bullshit!"

Don't all those scientists realize that they are *easily* proven
wrong? If the ocean was rising, it would be rising everywhere!

Oh, and we get "global warming" every night! (Hint: It's got
something to do with the Sun.)

Err... But what about the other side of the planet, don't they have
days, while we have nights, and Summers, when we have Winters? And
maybe the Oceans are quite dynamic, not flat?

Huh!

Right-wing responses will be deleted, unread.

Yeah, that's why the scientific consensus that man's activities are
contributing to the undeniable global warming trend is 97% or so. They're
all liars.

Here's a list of "lying bullshit organizations with an agenda":

The 97% figure was for a number of years ago, and it was for PAPERS, not
people. If you look at papers now it is over 99%, and for relevant
scientists it is around that 97% figure.

By all means point to the scientific site which speaks of it and
denounces it.

Or just keep rejecting science.

But let us not pretend that if you cannot do the first you are not doing
the second.

Local and global sea levels are not the same.

Here is a decent source if you want to learn:

<https://oceanservice.noaa.gov/facts/sealevel.html>
-----
In 2014, global sea level was 2.6 inches above the 1993 average—the
highest annual average in the satellite record (1993-present). Sea level
continues to rise at a rate of about one-eighth of an inch per year.
...
Sea level rise at specific locations may be more or less than the global
average due to local factors such as land subsidence from natural
processes and withdrawal of groundwater and fossil fuels, changes in
regional ocean currents, and whether the land is still rebounding from
the compressive weight of Ice Age glaciers.

It works that way because you’re assuming that the land datum is constant, but it isn’t.

In Greenland for example, that as global warming has melted their glaciers, measures
of absolute land elevation have gone up. The reason why is because the glaciers’
weight pressing down on the land had compressed the local land elevations, but with that
mass now being reduced, the land has uncompressed, causing it to rebound, rising up
relative to its prior elevation reference datum.

This gives the appearance that locally, the sea level is going down...but it’s not.
The land is rising locally because of glacial melt.

Are they taking into account the corresponding sinking of the ocean
floor due to the added weight of the new water? :) (See, I can pull
"science" out of my ass too).

No, you actually did make a correct observation: there should be a corresponding
compression effect within the oceans. The trick is if it is significant enough to capture
the data on, since the rising of Greenland in its postglacial rebound was found only
relatively recently despite it being a pretty big magnitude change, but that’s because it
is highly localized, whereas it’s ice melt going into the oceans gets dispersed worldwide,
so the compression is dispersed too. Plus there’s also inertial lag.

TLDR: yes, it has to be exist, but it may be still too small to effectively measure.
