I have shown you both Tablet and Desktop modes and how the UI changes in
those modes. You also work to twist my words to when I note that YOU said MS
does not care about some software they ship with Windows you contradict
yourself in saying they DO care. Maybe you mean they care about some or even
most of the software they ship, but you have made it clear you feel they do
not care about ALL the software they ship with Windows 10 - even software
which has been common to Windows for years and is well known and fairly
often used.
Doing a little research, here is a story on the top 10 requested features of
Windows 10:

Provide a better Notepad application
-----
Some even say it is among the most used application in the operating
systems: <http://goo.gl/QBjXAL> [http://www.windows10update.com]
-----
Now this is one Windows 10 user request one can get behind! Ask
the right person and the default Notepad program in Windows is the
most used application in the operating system.
Along with other default programs, of course, like the good old
Calculator and jolly old Paint.
However, while the former two applications have seen updates in
previous versions of the operating system, Notepad has turned
antique with barely anything new added to the program. All that
could change by the time Windows 10 makes its debut.
-----
Even Microsoft speaks of it! They talked of wanting to update Notepad and
bring it to their store: <http://wp.me/p1obas-a02>
-----
Now, Microsoft wants to bring more stock apps to the Windows
Store. In an interview with CNN Money, Microsoft¹s Terry Myerson
the company¹s Executive Vice President of the Windows and Devices
Group stated that the company is hoping to bring Notepad to the
Windows Store.
Here¹s Terry¹s statement:
"Even applications like Notepad ‹ I hope that¹s in the store soon.
So we¹ll start getting ratings and reviews on Notepad. It¹s always
humbling."
-----
And you say they do not care about it. LOL!

Let me know when it's actually in the store and has been updated. You've been so incompetent that now you're reduced to trying to argue Microsoft cares about notepad. You can't even talk about the topic anymore because you don't have a leg to stand on.

Good catch. Thanks!
The history of this is I noted the "Restore Down" feature not working in it
and cc said this proved MS did not give "a shit" about Notepad. I then noted
this also applied to other programs and he moved goal posts to saying it
could not handle more than 54K. Another thing which is not true.
But his new story of this applying only to Notepad is utter bunk even
without that. He specifically spoke of "The apps..." and "they have not been
compiled...".
Notepad was an example he used of such a program because I was already
talking about it:
Snit:
-----
As even you now understand, some programs that are designed for a
Desktop UI do not always work fully correctly in the Tablet UI...
even programs that COME with Windows 10. [Referring to the
"Restore Down" bug.]
-----
cc:
-----
You still don't get it. The apps have to be compiled against the
Windows 10 SDK. If they have not been recompiled against the
SDK, they will have disabled buttons. No UI changes need to be
done to the app, just the recompile. Microsoft does not give a
shit about Notepad, and as such, did not recompile it against
the Windows 10 SDK.
-----
Note: "The apps" and "they have not been compiled". The same bug occurs in
MS Paint and File Explorer... which Peter then jumped in to say had not been
updated since Windows came out!
Good grief... between the two of them they are just lost.

LOL! Still good to go with a 215MB file. https://vid.me/9wA1 It goes into a "Not Responding" state for a while and takes an unreasonable amount of time to load, but it works eventually. It also allocates nearly 500MB for whatever reason.

There's seems to be a dearth of information on the web about the limit. Why are you so eager to focus on personal attacks instead of technology? I'm sure cc acknowledges that he was working with outdated information. No biggie. At one time notepad even had something like an 5k or 8k limit iirc. Given the time it takes to open a 200MB file, and how it seems to hang, I'd say it is still a piece of crap and that MS is not paying much attention to improving it.

Don't think that is denying the current version is not a great program except for very limited needs. Still, it makes no sense to have the "Restore Down" button be present and NOT grayed out and still do nothing. That was the extent of my point about Notepad. According to this site: http://www.gn.apc.org/support/understanding-file-sizes 25MB is enough to hold the "approximate size of the 26-volume 1911 edition of Encyclopaedia Britannica." Why the hell would I need my WP to open a file nine times the size of the entire Encyclopaedia Britannica?
