This isn't an exaggeration, they are all applications I run on my gaming
desktop.

https://imgur.com/QuhB6zn

It's Windows 10, and we're used to these so-called "inconsistent"
interfaces. As I said before: big woop.

For those confused by such things, stay away from Windows and Linux.

From how dorayme complained - by showing ignorance of details of the system and more - he's never figured out a graphically complex problem. Otherwise he would've understood the requirements which include publishing the source! This is what happens when really poor self confidence takes over dorayme's psyche.

dorayme is far too idiotic to write a complex script. The only scripting he's able to do is copying code from usenet groups and claiming it as his own.

I just configured a KF and won't be bothered by the flooding. dorayme's crap has made an utter ruin of my scripting via Google Groups, so I don't make an attempt reading Jeff Relf with my client anymore. Only thing he has done with this nonsense is that the dorayme boycott has been shown to be the right choice. Linus Torvalds is a false advocate's only reason for living. Usenet is a sovereign phenomenon based on mutual trust with strangers. Good grief, just recently dorayme was declaring himself the only "true Linux advocate", and claiming that "advocates" (in satire-quotes to try to paint them as the bad guys) are focusing on Windows more than on Linux.

The proper use and application of consistency impacts productivity and
efficiency. For you that might not be a big deal... and that is OK. For
others it matters more.

If your point is that the competition does not do this perfectly you
will get no disagreement from me... but Linux has its own special case
of insanity on this.

The one talent The Underground Marshmallow Person learned well is to work to shame The Doctor into submission and if that fails to work, drown him out with flooding or completely change the target. The Underground Marshmallow Person doesn't have any concept of what he is crying about. Everyone is The Underground Marshmallow Person -- the oldest gag in the book.

Of course I quoted specific examples of The Underground Marshmallow Person lying -- showing off insecurity, etc. His response: to double down on your lies.

I'm guessing, after ignoring all the trolling from The Underground Marshmallow Person, it is just The Underground Marshmallow Person mass producing almost all of the barrage. No doubt. And both totally unbalanced crackpots.

Yep. That's what the Mac is for.

The point I was making was that as much as those in COLA fail to
understand the value, when you look at a REAL Linux advocacy community
they DO understand the value. And looking at the thread I pointed to is
a great example. Here, from that thread:

<https://goo.gl/ZSWbc9> Ezee Linux on Facebook
     -----
I just spent a rather frustrating morning trying to
figure out how to get QT applications and GTK
applications to look like they belong together on
Ubuntu 18.04 with the GNOME and Unity desktops...
I’d like to find a new-user friendly way of doing it
but it eludes me. I’ve followed a bunch of
suggestions in forums but none has worked
satisfactorily. I know it is possible because Linux
Mint, Ubuntu MATE and any distribution running the
KDE Plasma desktop come with everything setup to
look right. KDE offers separate controls for QT and
QTK so you can really dial it in while GNOME offers
nothing and Ubuntu didn’t bother to try to address
the issue downstream. Some folks don’t care, of
course, but it’s a real bummer to me. Your thoughts?
     -----

And replies to that comment:
     -----
I tried some years ago... and never tried after
that. I just accepted it. (I used to run Arch with
Xfce4, now I mainly run straight up Debian with
     Xfce4.)

Trying to make things look good would be a dream -
     but therein lies madness.
     -----
Spoonamore Same here. I'm on Manjaro with Mate. It
will all normalize when either QT or GTK dies..
     -----
Hemmingsen Well, I even tried to make the design
look good when you do tiled applications at some
point. I was really annoyed by the rounded edges
in each upper corner. Even when you tiled them.
But on the other hand, it works - and it works
very well. Hell I ran it on hardware at the time
you couldn't even get anymore. At least 10+
years old. I just recently upgraded to some
better hardware. But it was already fast and
could be used well. Even back then.
     -----

And looking now, I see this is the "top comment" (other than another
from Ezee Linux himself):
     -----
It is not just an issue of looks but of usability.
The face this is still as much of an issue on
desktop Linux as it is harms adoption and reduced
productivity even for most who say they do not care.

I am very happy to see you speak of this. Your voice
is becoming — or already is — a high profile one.
Hopefully this helps the situation improve.
     -----

To be fair there ARE some who say it does not bother them much... but
the norm, clearly, is to recognize that this IS a issue. Does not mean
it is a deal breaker... but it is clearly and unambiguously an issue.

Wrong.

Some people will quibble about anything.

Most desktop users use Windows, which doesn't have this holy grail of
"consistency" that you seek. And: nobody cares.

No, you went out of your way to find something to quibble about. Not
interested, nor will I give you any more of the attention you seek.

I have known infants who argue better than you do. Are you being like William Poaster on purpose? I think it is already over. Of course I quoted examples of William Poaster showing off insecurity, flooding every group I post to, etc. His response: to blame me. Studying Xfce... forever a novice.

"Now that was close" said William Poaster's girlfriend.

I am absolutely right that I and others have a pretty good understanding
of the value!

Ah, nice effort to turn things around! There are people who want a
better experience on their Linux desktop, one where they can be
confident they will be more productive and efficient and where they will
make fewer errors, and you say they are merely "quibbling about anything".

Another interesting twist! First, what makes you think nobody cares
about these things which impact productivity, efficiency, and
error-reduction? Second, while Windows is clearly not perfect (far from
it) it is not as bad as Linux. Heck, even macOS, which is better than
the others, is far from perfect.

Also from that discussion:
-----
What I have seen in many Linux group is people
denying the importance of the issue... they will say
if you want consistency and other UI "niceties" you
should use Windows or macOS.

I find this odd given how in the announcement post
for KDE that was one of the prime goals, and it is
still listed on their site as one of their prime
goals, and on their usability documents. Same is
true of the GNOME user interface guidelines.
-----
IMO.... It seems Basic-GUI-Settings do tend to take
a back-seat to functionality. These QT/GTK issues
reminds that there is also a lack of Sound-Themes
and Settings for DE's. For me, I find it very
important to be able to set sounds-events in a DE.
When I am doing a 1,000 things at one time, it's
nice to get audio-notification of something going
on. Especially if you are in another room. Cinnamon
has come closest to fixing this audio issue. In any
event, it's time for DE standards to be drafted. All
DE's need to meet basic standards.
-----
I have no idea how, technically, this would even be
possible, but I would love developers to have a
choice to make a UI for each of the major GUI
systems. The program core would remain the same, but
the program could be set to feel like it was native
to whichever paradigm you used.

This would include not just what buttons looked like
and file and print dialogs and the like, but where
menu items were located and called (say, settings /
preferences, or quit / exit) but even to how screens
were laid out.

Not saying this would be easy. It would not... but
it would be a great addition to the ecosystem.
-----
Agreed
-----

You are right that some do not understand the value. This is as one
would expect... not everyone understands the value of MOST of the design
choices that go into the products they use! But there are many of us who
DO understand the value, or have a decent understanding at least. Why do
you insult and belittle those who understand something you make clear
you do not? I get it if you are not interested, but why put others down
for what they do understand?

The Doctor is a false advocate's only reason for living.

But Davoud feels the need to please the herd. So be it. It was Davoud who forged me (and others) and admitted to having done so. Lying sack of shit does it every time. Then the deluge begins. Because the milksop just has to run to other groups to get the attention he's not getting here. He insists that he uses Android, while actually he never works with it to get any real work done and honesty worked with it. Some time ago I did work on and showed some Ruby for the front end (only works on Wayland) which is the only thing you can do when trying to avoid Davoud's immature crap while reading with Google Groups.

You're like a shark in a goldfish bowl. We all see you there and thinking you are being clever. And you're so foolish you keep doing it.

LOL! You didn't just say "others", you said the "REAL Linux advocacy
community"and you're pretending that this 'community' is in agreement
with you while showing a ridiculously scant amount of "evidence" where
a good chunk of the tiny group of people said they don't care.

I just posted about how trivially easy it is to show you projecting your
drug problems onto people. Did not have to wait five minutes for an
example. No need to even dig back over the past few days.

The Ezee Linux community does not speak with one voice. There is
disagreement... but notice what there is NO... the type of trolling you
and valor are pushing here. It is a great example of how not all Linux
users are tied to false "advocacy" as we see in COLA.

I think it's the high point of hilarity that snitters thinks he is the
arbiter of who is and isn't a "real linux advocate".

You act like it is some special skill or takes some special knowledge to
know that real Linux advocacy can and should be honest, that real Linux
advocacy is focused on discussions of tech and not on attacking people,
that real Linux advocacy is not denial of issues with Linux but how
there is room for both focusing on benefits of Linux as well as noting
where it could improve.

Nope. It takes no such special skill or knowledge to understand how
poorly done the "advocacy" of COLA is.

You act like what he said is wrong. Who *hasn't* seen you claim

Once again you seek to put me on the defensive. Not biting.

The point is a simple one: this forum is not generally about advocating
Linux, even on the rare occasions where Linux or technology is the
topic. It is far more about lying to promote Linux, which is not real
advocacy. It is far more about insulting and attacking others, which is
not real Linux advocacy. It is far more about attacking Windows and

The topic is Linux advocacy... and you work to twist it to be about me.
For you everything is about me... your obsession with me is showing again.

It is far more about attacking Windows and
macOS, and those who use them, than it is about real Linux advocacy.

The topic is Linux advocacy... and you work to twist it to be about me.
For you everything is about me... your obsession with me is showing again.

Well, the "real" advocates are the ones that agree with the troll,
obviously!

Maybe some that have made statements that the troll can dishonestly
twist into support of the troll.

Meanwhile, the logic that you presented (using the Windows example)
rolled off the troll without effect. Like water off a duck's back.
