#376510 — Shipping hardware with Uboot serial debug port and stock Linux kernel improves hardware sales

Shipping hardware with Uboot serial debug port and stock Linux kernel improves hardware sales
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The biggest selling CPU boards of all time are those that have a debugging
port for Uboot and systems that ship with stock Linux kernels.

These in turn have made the companies that make CPUs and release developer
boards with Uboot serial debug port and stock Linux kernel the most
successful on the planet displacing all other competitors in the same market.

The lesson for Linux gadget companies is to release ALL their hardware with built in
Uboot serial debugging port, and use stock Linux kernels. Dump the uboot
and Kernels to some download link to comply with GPL.
Then you got the makings of a successful product.

What tends to happen is that people with time and tinkering
experience upgrade the Kernel and improve on deficiencies and make
secondary products that you can use to improve your own product,
or it may create secondary sales, or it may lead to entire new
class of products that you can make with all the new drivers, and hardware
the tinkerers have got working for your product.

For the fabless semiconductor companies in China for example,
this has led to complete world domination with working CPUs and
numerous hardware on a time scale that no one have been able to match.

Some of these companies are making so much money they no longer
want to make money by making any of their own gadgets. Instead they make
completely new customized boards, with serial debug port, Linux kernel
and uboot as a package for about $2000 for anybody
that wants to pay this start up cost. They can turn around these
new products in days to weeks.
These ventures usually turn into $1 million orders within months.
The time scales and time frames are just unbelievable.

For western companies that want to make use of these
incredible resources, they need to have their own Linux teams ready
to accept new hardware and add on their own software to make
their IoT devices to finished products in months to make profit.
To make the known formula work for your products,
leave in the serial debug port, and dump uboot and Linux to some
download site to satisfy the GPL and you got a product that will
sell and sell for years to come.

Got an example of one of these boards returning $1 million dollar orders?

So share it to back up your claim otherwise it's just a load of
unsubstantiated nonsense which you are well known for spouting.

Seems you are just making stuff up yet again. All you had to do was
prove your claims but because they are made up you can't provide one
single shred of evidence. It's pretty clear that you are the troll here.

What I find interesting is how he crossposts to several unrelated
groups, offers statements and claims with no proof to back them up and
yet I don't see a single Linux advocate reprimanding or attacking him.
If you or I did the same thing, especially on a continual basis, we
would be attacked.

There sure is a double standard around here in COLA.

That bullshit is such obvious idiocy that it does not need any
"reprimanding"

I have *long* ago stopped to read his posts at all, and I guess most linux
advocates did the same.
No reading, no answer, no reprimanding. It is that simple. Even a dimbulb
should have come to such obvious conclusions

It's no "double standard", "Jim", that silly, harmless 7 does not get

Well, it would be *your* job to call it out. After all, especially *you*
claim to know windows very good. You would be in a position then to provide
the facts.

Instead you are yourself spreading lies and misinformation. And the problem
is: You repeat the same old bullshit again and again and again, even if
proven wrong. You don't know your ass from a hole in the ground when it
comes to linux, yet you spout endless idiocy about linux.
You are *much worse* than 7 could ever be

What has this got to do with Windows? Are you replying to a different
thread??

We know you really don't get this whole "making claims and backing them
up with facts" thing do you? It's really, really simple. If I make a
claim, it's my job to provide the facts to back it up. Your reverse
logic of "I've made a claim now it's up to you to prove it because I am
clever and you are stupid" wouldn't hold water even in the Kindergarten
debating club.

I'm quite happy to keep your idiotic and incorrect statement in line as
you clearly like to advertise your stupidity. I'll add back in the snip
you made that describes your normal attitude to claims and facts. You
might be able to see why your claim is worthy only of being ignored:

We know you really don't get this whole "making claims and backing them
up with facts" thing do you? It's really, really simple. If I make a
claim, it's my job to provide the facts to back it up. Your reverse
logic of "I've made a claim now it's up to you to prove it because I am
clever and you are stupid" wouldn't hold water even in the Kindergarten
debating club.

I can say I know math well. 2+2=4. While I made that claim and backed
it up with a fact it doesn't actually prove the statement. That's what
you trolls do. Your facts leave much to be desired and rarely qualify
your claims.

I'm sure you'll be along real soon with an example to back up that
assertion......

I am reminded of when that filthy bastard "Slimer" attacked us because
we did not "call out" the bad behavior of Snit-circus participant
"Brad Wiggins".

"Slimer" claimed that we exhibited "disgusting behavior by disgusting
pigs and liars", but sensible people weren't reading any of the inane
garbage!

If anyone is wondering _why_ I returned, see the message above. Now that
Ezekiel told chrisv that he has no interest in having sex with her,
chrisv decided that she'd be obsessed with me instead.

What IS remarkable, is that a well developed ape has come
to realise that he lives on a planet, circling a sun, in a
planetary system, within a galaxy, within a universe.
