Shipping hardware with Uboot serial debug port and stock Linux kernel improves hardware sales --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The biggest selling CPU boards of all time are those that have a debugging port for Uboot and systems that ship with stock Linux kernels. These in turn have made the companies that make CPUs and release developer boards with Uboot serial debug port and stock Linux kernel the most successful on the planet displacing all other competitors in the same market. The lesson for Linux gadget companies is to release ALL their hardware with built in Uboot serial debugging port, and use stock Linux kernels. Dump the uboot and Kernels to some download link to comply with GPL. Then you got the makings of a successful product. What tends to happen is that people with time and tinkering experience upgrade the Kernel and improve on deficiencies and make secondary products that you can use to improve your own product, or it may create secondary sales, or it may lead to entire new class of products that you can make with all the new drivers, and hardware the tinkerers have got working for your product. For the fabless semiconductor companies in China for example, this has led to complete world domination with working CPUs and numerous hardware on a time scale that no one have been able to match. Some of these companies are making so much money they no longer want to make money by making any of their own gadgets. Instead they make completely new customized boards, with serial debug port, Linux kernel and uboot as a package for about $2000 for anybody that wants to pay this start up cost. They can turn around these new products in days to weeks. These ventures usually turn into $1 million orders within months. The time scales and time frames are just unbelievable. For western companies that want to make use of these incredible resources, they need to have their own Linux teams ready to accept new hardware and add on their own software to make their IoT devices to finished products in months to make profit. To make the known formula work for your products, leave in the serial debug port, and dump uboot and Linux to some download site to satisfy the GPL and you got a product that will sell and sell for years to come.

Desk Rabbit wrote: > So Ooo! PRicky Touchy Troll! It seems I know and you don't know anything. What's new troll? Read the original post and weep if you must: Shipping hardware with Uboot serial debug port and stock Linux kernel improves hardware sales --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The biggest selling CPU boards of all time are those that have a debugging port for Uboot and systems that ship with stock Linux kernels.

That bullshit is such obvious idiocy that it does not need any "reprimanding" I have *long* ago stopped to read his posts at all, and I guess most linux advocates did the same. No reading, no answer, no reprimanding. It is that simple. Even a dimbulb should have come to such obvious conclusions

I can say I know math well. 2+2=4. While I made that claim and backed it up with a fact it doesn't actually prove the statement. That's what you trolls do. Your facts leave much to be desired and rarely qualify your claims. -- Marek Novotny https://github.com/marek-novotny
