More talk about people in your kill file.

A short, dead-end track:

"+1, me too, I agree, he's in my killfile"

Virtually nothing else from Dumb Willie for 10 goddamn years?

Take yourself out back and do the right thing, Dumb Willie.

All they're doing is re-affirming that they've lost once again,
and just how thoroughly they remain pwned.

Here, the boys are trying to use how the article didn't bother
to explicitly note that Nest is a Linux company to try to claim
that they're not: that's the logical flaw known as "Argument
from Ignorance":

<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argument_from_ignorance#Absence_of_evidence>

Since it has already been determined from other sources that
Nest is a Linux company, each time that they whine like this
just gives the readership audience a good deep laugh at their
expense, as they so dearly try to cling to remaining ignorant.

Logic and Linux losers used in the same sentence is an oxymoron.
Once again, can you imagine the uproar they would be causing if that
was Microsoft or Apple?
It would be going 24x7 nonstop.
Shit, these losers are still whining about The Halloween Docs which if
memory serves me correctly were leaked in the late 1990's.

These so called Linux advocates are mentally ill.
They really are.

It is more that they wear their "envy of success" on their sleeve,
and try to blame others for their own personal shortcomings in life.

For example, one of my car pics here it will invariably attract some
lame put-down attempts, but the irony is that their "Debbie Downer"
routine is but a mirror into their own ugliness. Case in point:

Obviously, chrisv considers intelligence and being a hard worker to
both be "unfair advantages".

If I say yes, I'll then be expected to also disclose if its the S, GTS, or Turbo...
...so let's just instead say that its a misbadged Ford Focus ;-)

Best looking Focus I've ever seen!

(we have a guy in my neighborhood who works for Porsche NA. He always
has 1 or 2 late models on display in his driveway)

Reading comprehension fail, "Homer".

Particularly since I then went on to specifically emphasize, stating:

"Now the classical COLA fanboy defender of FOSS will point out
that the "EOL'ed" customer is 'free' to go grab the source code
and update it to avoid being stranded ... good in theory, but
here's a real world test - - watch, wait and see if that actually
happens."

A fair enough statement in theory ... but here is a real world test
of the supposed superiority of FOSS to be able to exert said control
over your own fate, rather than to be held hostage.

As of this morning, no COLA fanboy advocate has stepped up yet to
claim the cash reward I offered ... and the clock is ticking.

I missed this 'cash reward offer'. What is it?

It was posted on 6 April (two days ago) in this same thread.

Repeating:

"FWIW, I'll offer a $100 commission for any COLA boy who wants to
volunteer to write & deliver a equal to current fully functional
FOSS re-installer for these fucked-over Revolv customers. Deadline
is 15 May 2016 to claim, and payout is subject to customer confirmation
testing to be conducted after the Revolv system has been shut down.
I'd consider offering more, but (a) I don't have a Revolv, and (b)
there's been too many arrogant claims about how trivially easy all
of this FOSS coding is, so this shouldn't take any of the braggarts
here more than a half day to fully complete."

In other words, "Earn $100 if you show me that I'm wrong".

Gotcha. Don't hold your breath.

The company looks to be doing the right thing:

"If you're a current Revolv customer, please email us at help@revolv.com
so we can help you out during this transition and provide you with a
refund for the purchase price of your Revolv hub."

Just saw that.
They had a huge backlash so they succumbed to the pressure of the
consumer.
Still, kudos to them for doing the right thing.

Is this Nest thing that popular?
I've never heard of it.

The flaw in your expectation is that you assume a) the sources are in
fact available (where are they?), b) the firmware has not been
"Tivoized" (locked to digitally signed binaries), and c) the now
"bricked" functionality of the device was actually provided by locally
installed software, rather than remotely in a now deactivated Cloud service.

The fact is that if this device really is powered by Free Software,
rather than some proprietary bastardisation of Free Software or a remote
service, then there is in fact nothing preventing you from continuing to
use it as before.

So please show me the exact copy of the Free Software powering this
device, and its exact corresponding sources, then explain to me exactly
how this Free Software is somehow responsible for "bricking" it.
