Nobody is claiming Mavericks has no bugs.
Nice side step though.

Your original comment was:

"If I made a list of bugs and problems with Mavericks, it would put
Snit's largely contrived list of KDE bugs to shame."

Those are your words.

Ahh, a typical Linux advocate:

1. Makes a claim he refuses to substantiate.
2. Gets cornered.
3. Starts name calling.

Check!

We have a Linux "advocate".

Bwaaaaaaaaaaa!

Heck, I know I have repeatedly noted there are. Some have been fixed since
Mavericks first came out - some have not.

And they are completely and utterly unsupported. I prove my points. He just
spews and screeches.

And he knows it.

Keep in mind, though, that is what you have done also. Think of the Onion
Knight stuff.

1. You claimed I was posting as Onion Knight.
2. You got cornered, it was proved we are different people.
3. You went into name calling.

Same with Silver Slimer and GreyCloud. You guys have different issues, where
the herd all has the same cult-like claims, but you do much the same.

So far this claim is completely unsupported and, frankly, is complete and
utter BS. I find it amusing to see how many times you will dodge this fact.

You won't because you *cannot*. OS X has its problems - no doubt. But it is
not the utter disaster that KDE is, nor even plagued with the problems of
the much more limited Cinnamon and MATE.

I *have* shown a bunch of problems with Linux - and you just dismiss it all,
claiming only an "obsessive crank" would show those things. It was pretty
trivial to find those things.

I cannot speak for others but I use a Mac because it offers me the best
value for the money and is in the price range I can afford. I would love to
have a Mac Pro with two great monitors but it is out of my price range - so
I have an iMac (and, really, it serves me darn near as well as the Pro
would).

In rare cases, yes.

But you are not stuck with their mice. Frankly I cannot stand the mice Apple
makes. They feel horrible in my hand, I do not like the build in touch
stuff, etc. I use a Logitech MX518
<http://www.logitech.com/en-us/support/4259>. I am not a gamer, but I love
how the number of buttons (esp. the back and forward), the shape, the fact I
can program it to work differently in different programs, etc.

My answer: throw the horrid little Apple rodent in a draw and use a much
better one. :) Even for most users I suggest a more "standard" Logitech.

This would be a very uncommon problem...

I am calling utter bullshit on this. Complete and utter bullshit.

But if you think I am wrong show it. My videos did not take long to make...
so no reason for you not to show what you claim. KDE is an utter disaster!

Why would a supposed full-time paid Linux developer (and "advocate")
need Mac OSX for work, then run it at home, and post to cola with it?

So you claim. Get back to us with videos like Snit did.

Or run from your bullshit lie.

Or admit the truth: no software in the world is as buggy as Linux/FOSS

How is plugging an external optical drive to a computer through USB a hack?

His green screen education never covered the uses of the USB port.

The fact you think it is a "hack" to use USB speaks poorly of your computing
experience.

What optical drive needs two USB ports? I know my external one does not.

I and most people I know almost never use our optical media. I use thumb
drives for sneaker net.

I do produce DVDs, though, so when I am making those I need my DVD burner to
test things and to make a master to send to the folks who produce them in
bulk - but that is an edge case. Most people never have that need.

Liberating? It is not needed... but not sure why you would think it is
"liberating"? Odd word for the removal of something few use.

And if Apple included a bunch of stuff people did not need you would whine
they included it just to jack up the price.

> Maybe they DO buy all of their media from iTunes

Woah. Where did you get that? I do not use my optical drive but I use a lot
more than just iTunes. You are getting yourself all confused and thinking
you need an optical drive or you will be forced to use iTunes.

> , but maybe they found a good deal for a CD or DVD they've been looking for

And maybe they found an old printer with a parallel port. Should Apple
include that, too?

> Call me old school but I enjoy having a plethora of ports on my laptop

I can understand thinking Apple removes things too quickly - but I also
think history has shown them to be *generally* right. When they removed the
floppy before thumb drives were common and before they had writable CD
capabilities I thought that was a bit silly. No good "sneaker net" solution.

Well, you would need to use an eternal one. That means USB.

It's certainly doable but not pretty.

Yup. Been available since 2011:

There are a number of options now. I have not used any.

I found it rather strange that OpenSuse 12.3 never did play dvds whether
I had libdvdcss installed or not. The 64-bit version final error
message was that there was no fix available.
On the good side, Intel still has their free compiler sets available
only for linux, but it is advised by them to use a Redhat version. I
put it on OpenSuse and it worked ok. Otherwise, I'd have to pay around
$900 for the windows or Mac versions.
