I'm surprised that she never noticed that the fans were going crazy 
before she killed the machine. I never had that issue with my 17" MSI 
GT72, but I immediately noticed that it with the Zephyrus G14 when I 
bought it... that and the poor quality of the wireless chip it included, 
another area Apple laptops are superior to PC hardware.

Intel and other hardware manufacturers have now made it a priority to 
deliver long battery life. As far as I know, Intel's Core Ultra series 
is giving Windows users all-day battery and narrowing the gap with Apple 
in that respect. Of course, it still requires a loud fan and compromises 
on performance once the hardware is no longer on AC, two things Apple 
devices don't need to worry about. If anyone is interested, here are a 
few PC laptops with better battery life than a MacBook:
