#55546 — Turning osmand~ off

I route with osmand~ and then it routes in the background.
The problem is that my osmand~ never shuts off.
I have to reboot the phone to get osmand~ to turn off.
There isn't an "exit" button I can find.
I can clear all running tasks and osmand~ still runs in the background.
That can't be.
Is there a secret?
Android 7, osmand~ 3.0.4

  You have to stop any current navigation process and then 'exit' from
OsmAnd+ by using your device's 'back' button.

  Of course, like any Android app, the 'dormant' app is still in memory,
but it should not use much - if any - CPU time.

  If you want to 'remove' the app from memory, you can do so in the list
of 'Recent apps' (tap-and-old the square button on 5.X).

  BTW, *how* do you determine that the app is still *running* - i.e.
using CPU time? (I have 5.X and AFAIK that doesn't have a CPU monitor
built-in.)

The back button doesn't exit from osmand~. 
The osmand~ stays in the background.
Hitting the square button says "Clear All" which clears most apps.
But not osmand~ which is still running in the background.

That works but it's too many steps. Rebooting is easier.
Settings -> General -> Apps -> (scroll) -> OsmAnd~ -> Force stop

The osmand~ app keeps talking to me even after I "killed" it.
Since there is no exit button, I can only do the Android back arrow.
Then I do the square button to "clear all" apps.

But osmand~ still keeps talking to me.
The "force stop" works but it is too much effort.

There is no menu that I can find for stopping the routing. Yet.

I kept looking and finally found it!
Tap map -> three lines -> directions -> x -> Dismiss route -> Yes

  Yes, that's the simplest/most_used way.

  An alternative way is tapping the STOP button in OsMand's notification
in the (Android) Notification Area/Panel.
