The back button doesn't exit from osmand~. 
The osmand~ stays in the background.
Hitting the square button says "Clear All" which clears most apps.
But not osmand~ which is still running in the background.

That works but it's too many steps. Rebooting is easier.
Settings -> General -> Apps -> (scroll) -> OsmAnd~ -> Force stop

The osmand~ app keeps talking to me even after I "killed" it.
Since there is no exit button, I can only do the Android back arrow.
Then I do the square button to "clear all" apps.

But osmand~ still keeps talking to me.
The "force stop" works but it is too much effort.

There is no menu that I can find for stopping the routing. Yet.
