The back button doesn't exit from osmand~. The osmand~ stays in the background. Hitting the square button says "Clear All" which clears most apps. But not osmand~ which is still running in the background. > > Of course, like any Android app, the 'dormant' app is still in memory, > but it should not use much - if any - CPU time. > > If you want to 'remove' the app from memory, you can do so in the list > of 'Recent apps' (tap-and-old the square button on 5.X). That works but it's too many steps. Rebooting is easier. Settings -> General -> Apps -> (scroll) -> OsmAnd~ -> Force stop > > BTW, *how* do you determine that the app is still *running* - i.e. > using CPU time? (I have 5.X and AFAIK that doesn't have a CPU monitor > built-in.) The osmand~ app keeps talking to me even after I "killed" it. Since there is no exit button, I can only do the Android back arrow. Then I do the square button to "clear all" apps. But osmand~ still keeps talking to me. The "force stop" works but it is too much effort. There is no menu that I can find for stopping the routing. Yet.
