Netflix and Firefox run on all platforms and I assume that there are
alternatives for the others. May be, just may be, you really *need*
some Android apps, but I doubt it.

FWIW, I have an Android tablet because I wanted to see if it could act
as a replacement for my (Windows) laptop for our extended (several
months at a time) travels. It couldn't, so I'm still taking my laptop.
So *I* do not need any Android app (on a tablet).

Aren't you the same 'T' as in the Windows newsgroups?

I said 'Android apps', not 'Google Apps', i.e. apps written for use on
Android, not apps written *by Google*.

"constantly popping up crap to download from Google" is rather vague,
but if you mean that the (Google) Play Store app is doing that, then
disable updates or disable the Play Store app altogether.

You can just disable all the Google apps.

Bottom line: Use an Android tablet, disable or uninstall all the
Google stuff - including the Play Store and - as I said before -, get
(the APKs of) your apps from an alternative source (such as apkpure.com)
so you don't need a Google account.
