There was an article in Byte at some point (so it was probably close to the end of the USSR) about their "home" computers, and they showed a few, basically copies of US computers. But they also had copies of US microprocessors, but at least one needed two or three ICs rather than the single IC in the US. SO that was an indication that they were lagging in what they could produce. Michael
