I presume that the reason for wanting parallel is to avoid constraining the 
end-users who may want to fire off "jobs" at roughly the same time.

If so then that /doesn't/ imply that the jobs themselves must execute in 
parallel -- there could instead be a (parallel) queuing mechanism inside the 
server.
