OK, I see what you mean. You can use the EventQueue to perform the 
scroll _after_ the table has a chance to respond to the update.

final int last = modelA.getRowCount();
EventQueue.invokeLater(new Runnable() {
    @Override
    public void run() {
        tableA.scrollRectToVisible(
            tableA.getCellRect(last, last, true));
    }
});
