Apologies for the delay in replying, (had to work around a bug in a 3rd 
party lib) ... digress

I think we both know *exactly* what the OP meant when he said 'DOS 
command' Unless you've replaced it (command.com) anything you type at a 
DOS prompt will be interpreted by the default DOS command interpreter 
(command.com) and will have to comply with rules for commands passed to 
said interpreter, therefore, in this context, mvn is, in fact, a DOS 
command. Maybe you meant 'is not a built in DOS command' with which I 
concur.

The only other option I am aware of is overlaying the default 
interpreter with a different interactive shell, mysql for example

mysql -u foobar -p
nevermind

Like I say, I think you know this and were just busting for a fight.

Anyway, I'm off into the garden to pick some beans and courgettes for 
lunch. Has anyone else's courgettes gone beserk this year?
I've got more than I can eat, anybody want some? they're free!
